I think that we’re still a work in progress - we do tend to fade a bit in the latter stages of a game but as the fitness work continues I think we’ll start to see improvements. Last season and the season before we would have lost or drawn the last two games. The fact that we’ve come away with six points from them indicates the progress we’re making under DC, especially in defence. Apparently we have the longest unbeaten run in the EFL - five games!
Oh yeah - Sky Sports news online got that wrong then! We (probably) have the second longest unbeaten run!
Harry Anderson starting for Colchester today, always liked Anderson as a player for us but I hope he has a stinker today KO has taken place with the Gas Heads at their backs 3rd minute Southwood saves from Lisbie, Rovers go down the other end and Omochere is pushed in the back in the penalty area nothing given 5th minute a cross from Thomas was scuffed by Powell otherwise rovers would have the lead with an own goal still 0 - 0 10 minutes Daniel saying Rovers seeing most of the ball but some sloppy passes not helping 12th minute McEachran losses the ball in the middle of the park and Chang makes a good block in the area 14th minute a long throw coming after the ball hits Conteh and goes out for the throwing which falls to Vincent who hits a wild strike over the bar
15th minute corner to Colchester after the ball hits Kilgour and goes out for the corner 16th minute a headed clearance by Kilgour trying to find Cavegn is cleared but Thomas regains the ball and wins a throwing deep in the Colchester half 21st minute Omochere brings the ball down but it hits a defender and goes out for a corner which was followed by a foul in the area free kick to Colchester 24th minute A bishop shot well saved by Southwood 26th minute Darrell Clarke heard to shout lets be better with the ball, Daniel saying hey have seen plenty of the ball but are to pedestrian with it. 27th minute Powell whips in a cross which Lisbie fails to get a touch on to put Colchester ahead 31stminute Rovers hack the ball away Colchester seem to be in control 32ndminute Southwood down but looks ok Clarke gathering his players after a slow start
35th minute Thomas bundled over free kick Rovers about 35yards out from goal which Sparkes takes and finds Lopata who fires over the bar 40th minute Cavegn scores for Rovers against the run of play Colchester 0 - 1 Rovers
We sound really toothless - we need to up the intensity and effort. One goal and Colchester will lose confidence.
43rd minute Omochere down and going off replaced by Harrison 4 minutes extra time Colchester on the attack
We’re up to 5th in the half-time L2 table. We haven’t won 6 in a row since 2016, but there’s plenty of room for improvement in the second half.
Not the best 1st half. Some good saves from Southwood early on kept us in the game and then a tidy finish from Cavegn has given us the lead. Hopefully Cavegn won't stop scoring. Promise going off with another injury has cheesed me off. I had hoped his injury hit spell at Rovers would have come to the end but now he's out again. Wonder how long this will be.
Attendance 5,050 with 629 away fans 2nd half KO 48th minute Lisbie draws another save from Southwood 52nd minute Mbick scores Colchester 1 - 1 Rovers 54th minute Harrison brought down half way into the Colchester half which Southam - haes couldn't reach 56th minute Cavegn and Chang off Cotterill and Dewsbury on
