If you include a few of the youth players on the fringes of the squad (Cairns, Killock, Taylor, Thompson, Dawson and Mowatt) we have a squad of 30, plus Morison out on loan. If nobody wants our dead wood, we're stuck, we can't just keep adding to the wage bill. If we can sell a couple before the deadline I'd fully expect to see one come in
Well Leeds60, you got me thinking on our squad size compared to other teams in this division so I did some research (I'm bored at the moment if you didn't realise ). I've ordered them in squad size smallest to largest Burnley â 26 Leicester â 26 Blackpool â 27 Watford â 27 Ipswich â 28 Middlesbrough â 28 Sheffield Wednesday â 28 Barnsley â 30 Charlton â 30 Brighton â 31 Huddersfield â 31 QPR â 31 Reading â 31 Wigan â 31 Yeovil â 31 Leeds â 32 Forest â 32 Bolton â 33 Derby â 33 Millwall â 33 Birmingham â 35 Doncaster â 35 Bournemouth â 39 Blackburn â 40 So we have the 8th biggest squad in the championship, this obviously doesn't take into account wage bills but still thought it would be interesting.
So the average is about 31. As we don't pay anything near top wages in division, our squad of 32 shouldn't be a problem. Still hopeful we might shift two or three before window closes
