With a bit of luck Bony could have scored twice. One hit the cross bar and there was are header near the end he should have netted.
this guy is looking like a star in the making. superb close control, and has that flair about him. Cant see him being an average player - he will either flop through fizzling out, not getting into the team, lack of confidence - or fly high, and be one of the superstars of the team / if not the league - could go far. I am backing the latter!
I was at the game and thought Bony tried hard but has a touch of Scotland-esque laziness about him too at times - not a problem if he bangs them in as far as I'm concerned. I thought his touch was a bit off and he gave the ball away far too much as well. I also detected on at least one occasion when the Spanish guys fed in Michu rather than pass to Bony who was in a better position. Hope there's nothing in that but he was furious with Pozuelo once - and justifiably so. Pozuelo does well for us but I he's not an out and out winger in my book as he likes to come inside virtually all the time and this kind of obstructs Michu in doing his thing. Gives us a different option though, and took his goal well.
I agree that Bony could use an extra yard of pace. Maybe someone should have a word with him about losing a little muscle from his tree trunk legs. The wind resistance of those bad boys alone could be costing him some speed! But I what I saw last night was just how his presence alone tied up two of their defenders at all times. His sheer power terrified them, and opened up space for others, including Pozuelo. Our formation does not require a striker in the traditional sense, but a front man to act as a central pivot around which other players can move and overlap, and Bony seems perfect for that role.
