Bit of a surprise. Surely he can't be expecting much better? Not that it'd be impossible for him to get a better Prem job, it just might not be likely.

He might have found out anything in his conversations: a chairman he couldn't warm to, a lack of vision, unrealistic hopes, lack of funds, anything. So he might well expect better than what he saw at Reading. I suspect he'll end up at a Championship club with vision.

Southampton is a hard act to follow unless you are talking about a top side (and he wouldn't get that), though he might find a Chairman he could warm to more. As Onionman said...could be any reason to turn a club down.

I just wonder whether he'd be in with a squeak at Everton. Realistically, the best he could hope for would be a Championship club and to come up and stay with them. I'm talking the likes of Birmingham City, Leicester City, Leeds Utd, etc.., that sort of level. Again, realistically, the only club I can see where he'd get in is Leeds, where I wouldn't like to see him go..! :)

BTW, Gaston Ramirez is on for Uruguay against Paraguay. 0-0 so far after 68 minutes.

Appy is in from 230/1 to 40/1 on Betfair...I'd say there's more chance of Price Philip phoning me tonight and offering me a solid gold pig than their choosing Appleton.

Fair enough, I was referring to simply the size (or more accurately, current position) of the club.

Wolves might be a decent shout for him as well?
