I think what riled him as much as anything on Saturday was that normally teams go there and park a bus. With the exception of a few who will have a go but haven't got the fire power to carry it off. Poyet was so convinced of his own rhetoric and over confidence. He kind of forgot Saints reputation for having a go and their new found abilities. You could tell he has not gathered intelligence, other wise he would not have made the hoof ball/ Dagenham and Redbridge comments. Did he not watch the games that have been on the Television at least to learn how we play. He would have seen how we mix the play. Did he really think we would play into his strengths just so he could say we played football. I would have thought that Dagenham & Redbridge are delighted to be associated with the way Saints play.
Just looked it up. League 1 winners 2001, or Football League Second Division as it was called then, Brighton and Hove Albion. You were right, no-one remembered. Even they didn't remind us. Had they forgotten too? Reading second, Stoke City play off winners. COYS
I hate losing but it always pays to be gracious & take it on the chin. You can look back on things & regret what you said. Heat of the moment is always a dangerous time.
I think he was wrong not to shake hands and to bitch about the style of football we play but being a bad loser is what makes you successful. Just look at Man United, Ferguson etc.
He did shake hands with Adkins but was rather rushed but yeah not great his slant in his interview. Quite funny really.
