I'd prefer Hamer to Button, Button just looks arrogant and slick and too up himself, Hamer is the better of two evils if you ask me, and I still think Hamer is a class shot stopper too, like Deano, except not quite as good, doesn't come off his line or claim it much but a shot on goal i'm confident it's staying out.
 
I haven't been on for some time but have read msot of the banter on here. I feel the need now to express my support for Chrissie P. I don't agree that we only have L1 players we have the players what we don't have is the belief and confidence to win home matches. We are clearly a better side away from the Valley and need to transfer taht kind of form on to our hallowed turf. I say get behind the boys, get behind the Chairman and get behind Chris Powell and we will climb away from the bottom of this division.

The club are losing so what? It's early days and the fight has gone barely three rounds, there's a fight out there that supporters have responsibilities to continue rather than crap on a decent manager and a board that delivered.

Typically on the money, well scribed. I'm enjoying this season, i enjoyed the 1-1 results recently against two teams who were supposedly going to punish us. Fair enough 4-1 to borough was a bad loss, but if your not prepared for the scrap go and support chelsea or man u, enjoy the scripted season.

I normally agree with you Ted, but on this, I have to disagree. Hamer seems to think he is a Premiership keeper while his performances are (presently) rather BSP! If Jackson hadn't been playing on Saturday then Harmer would have been by far the worst performance! I have never seen Button play so can not comment on his arrogance.
 
I've seen Button a couple of times and haven't seen any of this arrogance which Ted has seen. In his last game he made two unbelievable double saves and looked sound apart from one straightforward take which he spilled over the line for an unnecessary corner. What's happened to Pope I wonder? He looked a terrific prospect a year ago.

This and AHLLK's quote I watched Hamer on Saturday and thought he let himself down, in the way in which he kept his area, I actually think he is a good keeper but too up himself- even Premiership keepers will go for a ball just behind the goal rather than wait for the ball boy to climb over the fence and get it---lazy sod!!. And come on he has to accept he was way out of position for that lob on Saturday
I have watched Button on several occasions and he certainly doesn't appear arrogant and is a very effective keeper, I saw his opening game against the Chelsea reserves earlier this year and he made 2 show stopping saves and has followed this up in games he has played in since.
Popey is now fit and has also been featuring in U21's reserves games and was warming up on the pitch on Saturday
 
The fans really need to unite in support of CP. Far too many grumblings from different divisions of our fan base. I don't think CP is out of his depth, but he does need to improve recent results. Unfortunately he has suffered with injuries which has made it harder for ourselves, but when you look at the 11 on the pitch they need to be doing better.

Last season when we were all in tandem of our support for CAFC and the players, you see the difference it makes (poor performances were not punishable due to the fight being show - from the fans in attendance and replicated by the players on the pitch). We sang we wanted our Charlton back, well it starts with us. We are quick to point out the fan base is the foundation to any club, prove it.
 
Who would have thought that after getting promoted, into a better league would have resulted in us losing more this season?!?! Its crazy. I dont know about you lot but i was expecting us to win every game 27-0 and play like barcelona, with Danny Green getting the Ballon d'Or.

On a serious note i think calling for Powell to go makes us much sense as trying to get Les Reed back to replace him.

With so much of the season left to go, regardless of whether you think he has done a good job or a bad one do you really think that firing him this early would be good for the club long term? The short answer is No. Look at the Ian Dowie debacle, lets not encourage history to repeat itself.Or we might really end up with another Les Reed on our hands.

As far as I'm aware, very few fans do at all.

The worst I've heard this season are a few isolated shouts of 'sort it out Powell'. Haven't heard anyone calling for his head, and even two seasons ago when he took over for the last few months of the season (and we dropped to mid-table in League One), I only ever once heard fans calling for his head - a group of middle aged skinheads wearing stone-island jackets at Wallsall away, who were swiftly told to "shut up/**** off" by the rest of the fans.
 
Keep Powell, hes one of the last few good guys left in football, steadied our ship during the Milan Mandric turbulance, all the best to you guys for the forseeable future, but we want our 3 points back at the King Power <ok>

Hopefully Big Yann will be back from his injury by then, to add a bit of spice (and flair) to the match ;)

Same to you guys though, always consider Leicester my second team (family ties) so glad to see you doing so well this season.
 
I think sacking Powell now would be the biggest mistake this club could make since the appointment of Dowie.

We're a demoralised side filled with injuries, but we're not in the relegation zone, and our players (in my opinion) have the ability to turn results around and push us up the table. Sacking Powell would send us on a downward slope. I'd hazard a guess at around 90% of players in our squad who feel a sense of loyalty to Sir Chris for either giving them a chance to prove themselves (Hollands, Pritchard, Stephens, Solly, Wiggins, Hamer, Green etc) or for them to turn their career around after bad moves (Kermorgant, Morrison, Haynes etc). I doubt many of them would care anywhere near as much for the club as they do if CP were to leave.

Unless we were to bring in a massive name (i.e Redknapp, Curbishley) then I can't think of any available manager who would be able to push us up the table in the way Sir Chris can and will.

Even if results don't improved and we end up relegated, I'd rather be relegated with Chris Powell at the helm than with some journeyman who has no association with the club.




By the way Chrissy, who's been calling for his head?
 
I want Powell to stay. he is the only one of the hierarchy who is Charlton through and through. But he needs to sort out his act. He has been phenomenally unlucky with injuries, he hasn't got the squad he wanted or expected and, gossip aside, things are clearly not right behind the scenes. All of that said, some of his tactical decisions and team selections are utterly baffling. he needs to learn and quickly, but if he gets sacked my season ticket gets returned!
 
Depends if it was imposed upon him, or if Curbs himself offered to help out.

If it was the former, and Jiminez turned around to CP and said "Curbs is coming in to help sort this mess out" then yes it would affect his morale a lot. If it was the latter and Curbs phoned him up and offered to help him out with a somewhat hands-off approach then I think it would be appreciated.


Not gonna happen either way though <laugh>
