I've been in a bit of a daze since hearing this.

Potts will always be remembered for his battlecry.......

This is a call to the men in red and white
    A heart felt battle cry
As you enter the crucial fight
A final inspiration to lead you into war
A chance to remind you of what you're fighting for

Cause as you reach for the Premiership
As you sweat blood and tears
You carry us all on your backs
    All our hopes and fears

So do it for the Potteries
Do it for all of us
Do it for Josiah Wedgwood, and for a PMT bus

Do it for Nigel Johnson, do it for Sir Stan
Do it for singing toddlers and for my old man

    Do it for Trentham Gardens
    Do it for Mow Cop
Do it for Pat McGarry and his paper shop

    Do it for Wrights Pies
    Do it for oatcakes
Take us to the Prem whatever it takes

Do it for the blokes as call each other duck
Do it for Andy in his dumper truck
Do it for the man who shouts "Sentinel"

Do it for lime kiln bank
    Do it for Nick Hancock
    Do it for Sam Plank

Do it for the Boothen End and its deafening sound
Do it for Denis Smith and the old Victoria ground
    Do it for Alan Hudson
    Do it for Gordon Banks
Do it for the glory and our eternal thanks

    Do it for Meir tunnel,
For Slash - Sweet Child of Mine
    Do it for Royal Doulton
Do it for the old mines

Do it for going up Hanley duck
    Do it for Mark Stein
For Waddo for Ritchie and Ian in Scholar Green

Do it for Longton bus station
For the shirt on yer back
Do it for owd Grandad Piggott
    And for Club-paper Jack

And we'll be with you, every step along the way
Down the Brit, United and Arsenal, every week on Match of the Day
Do it for the Stokies around the world - near and far
Do it, do it Pulis, please do it
    Orate? Tararrrrrrr!

If the funeral arrangements are made public I would love to go and pay my respects, if only to doff my cap as the procession goes by.......

Sincere condolances to his family and friends.

Tarar Potts.... A legend on the terraces and a cyber friend of mine.

    Nick,

I think first and foremost we need to be respectful to the wishes of the family.

However, I would certainly like to have you around though mate if we are to attend.

Totally agree Steve, actually I do not live very far from you, so we could share the drive,

Of course the wishes of the Family are paramount, as I said elsewhere,
That someone thought enough to post the sad message on here speaks volumes and makes me want to weep - honestly.

I don't know what to do for the best, will think on, and if something sensible comes up, I'll let you know.

Did you see his last email to me, thought that under the circumstances I would break my word and share.

BTW whoever made this thread a sticky - well done indeed, I think that I detect Sgt's hand in this!

    Only just read this,

and from what I have read, it's sounds like he was a true terrace hero

from one dedicated Toon fan to a fellow football fan r.i.p

Under the circumstances I think you did good mate.

Just goes to show that even in his autumn years he was still a kid at heart.

I hate to be a pedant but i'm quite sure that Potts wasn't the real Pottermouth. I'm sure he got asked a few times and denied it.

I thought that too Sarge, but I'm also sure a while ago on here he admitted to being him. I've just tried to find the post, but there's way too many to search through!

Either way, he was a great guy, and will be missed. R.I.P. Potts, go haunt Pulis till we've got some more signings, then get yoursen up there and hang out with Sir Stan.

My sympathies and condolences to Potts’s family and friends. Whenever Potts mentioned his family it was always with warmth and pride. On 606 and this message board Potts was simply the best contributor because of his fair and balanced comments on his beloved Stoke City. Sometimes I disagreed with Potts, however on reflection I came to realise that Potts was right.

    Hi All,

I was stunned to hear about Potts. I never met him, but his contributions always made sense, and he had a fantastic knack of bringing a thread, however daft, back into the realms of sense.

My deepest sympathies and best wishes go to his family and friends.

    RIP, Potts

    Rest In Peace.

I never spoke to Pottermouth on here but from what I have read today, he seemed like a top bloke.

My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

On behalf of everybody on the Liverpool board.

  16. Lads, I have been a way for a while just recharging the old batteries ahead of the new season.

I thought I would come on tonight to see what is going on and I am truly truly shocked by this news. Potts was a total voice of sanity (and often humour!) for me and he will be sorely missed. He was and is a LEGEND in my book. I tried to meet up with him a couple of times with tenterdenkentpotter last season, but Potts work commitments got in the way.

I am totally saddened by this news and I just want to send my sincere condolences to Potts family, RIP one of the most committed Stokies I have ever known.

God Bless Steve, know you will be watching over us matey.

Don't know him but it's shocking that one of our members should pass away - and he sounds like a top bloke too.
