Bunch of heathens! Can't believe anyone would mix anything but a small drop of water with whisky

Never been into that myself, supposed to bring out the flavours isn't it but it just tastes watered down to me.

The beauty of ginger beer and whiskey is that you can make it as strong as you like and it still tastes alright, usually with the measures I pour it does the job but whatever the mixer is might as well not be there. Don't usually bother but it's great on one of the three hot days we get a year.

Yeah, it can do that. You have to be careful about how much you put in. I tend to put literally a drop. I quite like a blended whisky with a mixer but my favourite is Highland Park and there's no way I'm mixing that with anything.

I've probably been using too much water then I tend to put a splash in rather than a drop, that Highland Park looks good, nice looking bottle and was voted best whisky in the world a while back. I'll give it a try sometime is there a particular age you'd recommend?

I'd never use a mixer with a single malt and I hardly ever use them with any whisky for that matter I have it neat usually. Does go well with ginger beer though especially if it's Crabbie's alcoholic one.

I usually just get a bottle of the 12 year old but I've done the distillery tour in Orkney a couple of times and tried some of the older ones which are very nice. Its definitely my favourite and the distillery tour is well worth doing if you ever get the chance. In fact, all of Orkney is well worth a visit.

I've done the Glenfiddich distillery years ago, they even took me up the hillside to where the water comes from the ground. In the place you can buy malts and blended, you can also get 50% proof or more, and by the time i had finished all the free samples, i was walking like Gill does before he goes out, one forward 3 back.<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>
Which raises the point, bet no one on here would like to go in rounds with me and Gill.

Ha ha I would of wapped you in my prime drank a bottle and a half once and didn’t have any effect on me so I thought I had better pack in drinking all together no booze from April 4th to October 4th then back on again as I new I wasn’t an alky <laugh>

Rum & black with very little 'black' . . . . so a rum & bl <bubbly> (that's the closest that I could find to a man's tumbler).
That's what I've been drinking quite a lot of tonight, and it doesn't half make 'things' seem better . . . . none of your woofta drinks that Gil & Nacho favour <whistle>

Anyway, I've got nee idea why I'm posting this, but there obviously is a point (probably) and I'll probably regret it in the morning (I feel like Billy now) <cheers>

p.s. it's taken me blinking ages to post this, after correcting quite a few mistakes (and I've got to go to work tomorrow) :cheesy:

Sounds like you want to be part of the crew mate, don't worry about it it doesn't mean you're going to have to start wearing sequinned vests.

Gill would show you up, when he is pissed he walks backwards its easier for him to get home

I've recently discovered whisky and ginger beer, makes for a great mixer doesn't it. Apparently with lime added it's called a Moscow Mule but I haven't been fancy enough to try that yet.

Moscow Mule is a (Russian) vodka base bud, with ginger ale and lime. Substitute Russian for Polish vodka and you get a Warsaw Mule.

Substitute it for Whiskey and you get a might one of these: http://www.scotchmule.co.uk/

I can mix bourbon with sour, but like my whiskey straight up!
