I understand why people are clamouring for Kule to be captain but I’m not one of them. I admit he’s the better option than we currently have but I don’t see him as a long term solution.

Honestly, Deki being handed the armband looks like a repeat of handing it to Sonny: he's the best player, so give him the armband

    Captaincy doesn't work like that

What does a captain of a football team actually do, other than talk to the ref and decide which direction want to kick in first half? Son is a not a motivational figure then again neither was Hugo or Harry or anyone since possibly Perryman and not even sure he was really. What we are lacking and blaming Sonny for here is a general shortage of leaders we have nobody currently who appears to be prepared to stand up at times and have a go. Vicario has probably been our most vocal player this season, when he was fit with Romero next, but a good team as 3 or 4 real leaders that back up the captain and manager on the field.

A captain should direct the players on the pitch where necessary. Inspire them not just lead by example. Captains should not be appointed simply by being the best player on the pitch.

You need to read/watch his interviews.

By a distance the most impressive mentality in the whole group. Massively driven player who demands the best from himself.

This also comes across in his goal celebrations. Other players will do the usual knee slides, badge kiss or stupid things like throwing an invisible dart. Dejan is just pure unbridled passion.

I don’t think whoever wears the armband technically matters.

Would Spurs or any player be better just because something gets strapped round a different players’ arm? I highly doubt it.

Ultimately Spurs just don’t have any leaders. That’s been the case for years too, it isn’t new. We’ve had plenty who've lead by example in how they conduct themselves but very few actually capable of being able to rally the team or mentally drive players forward.

And this is the thing: it's one thing for a player to demand the best for himself, quite another to demand their teammates match those levels for 90 minutes or more

For a perfect example of this, there's several decades worth of England captains who would demand the best from themselves - but didn't seem to notice the other ten players on the pitch around them could have done with getting geed up or kicked up the backside

There's reports claiming that Paratici will return to us after his suspension.

There'd been initial rumours that AC Milan were in talks with him but now looks like we're back in front of the queue.

Weirdly, r/coys has already started talking like he's already with us and are fantasising about how the scouting structure will look with Paratici and Lange

Which mainly looks like what a minicab driver thinks Lange does

I think his timing is well off and the incident he's talking about was very stupid, but he has a point:
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cy0x9w56x45o

"In the time I've been here, we've had two decisions that have gone for us against Liverpool and there has been a national campaign," he said.
Postecoglou claimed this is part of a pattern of other major clubs having much more prominent pundit and ex-player voices in the media than Spurs.

That part is entirely accurate. Even our ex-players tend to be ones that we don't like.
Jamie Redknapp spent over a decade at Liverpool, was a crock for us and we sacked his dad.
Don't use him to represent this club.

Anyone that comes across fairly well and is positive about us regularly doesn't last.
Meanwhile every game is infested with ex-filth, Mancs and Scousers.
Don't get me wrong, we're not the only club in this position.

The counter point to this is usually slight variations on "Yeah, but Gary Lineker"

That's usually where I wish I had a screengrab of the NLD on MOTD where the pundits were Lee Dixon and Judas

Lineker wasn't a co-commentator or pundit, he was the presenter.
He's also mainly pro-Leicester, as well as being an ex-Everton player.
Definitely one of ours, but his role meant that he wasn't a voice for us, in my opinion.
