So far a mix of journalists have said yes and no, so it’s open to what you want to believe. I’d say right now it’s no. Because the club would’ve surely released a statement if Don Fabio would be impacted here, they release a statement about everything else… well, except new signings.
Except Italy is his main area of expertise and work. How can they stop him negotiating and someone else doing the signing etc?
Gives Levy an opportunity to shift Paratici with Conte, if it comes to that. I think he's done a pretty good job so far, though. I'd prefer an overall football strategy with a proper DoF, but the signings have been fine.
He will surely appeal and his suspension will be postponed until that is dealt with. If the suspension is upheld I assume UEFA will enforce it here. Given he was under investigation when he joined us I imagine his contract is explicit about what happens in this situation.
Alastair Gold has written a decent article on this... https://www.football.london/tottenh...aratici-decision-explained-tottenham-26037852 If the decision in Italy is upheld, I would expect UEFA and FIFA will apply the ban as a matter of course and his contract will be terminated. i read elsewhere that the appeal is only applicable to the guilty verdict and not the sentence, so it's an all or nothing situation. Given that most Italian clubs are financially dodgy and Juventus are probably amongst the dodgiest of a bad bunch, it doesn't look too good. The suggestion that he's pretty much the sole point of contact between Conte and the boardwould make that a short term disaster, as well as a long term one, in that he has been sorting out the scouting, recruitment, player development, academy and all of the other messes he inherited. Giving all of that back to Daniel doesn't bare thinking about.
I read the other day that Conte is still living in an hotel ? If that is true it's no wonder he walks round with a face like a slapped arse , living away from family can be a tough time and to add to that losing some friends like he has lately will hardly lift his mood
One of the Spurs aggregator accounts on Twitter, TottenhamTiers, has said Di Marzio has said this, though I can’t find where he said it: “The news I can tell you with certainty is that Antonio Conte will leave #thfc at the end of the season. There was no spark, his contract is expiring and the club has not asked him for a renewal.” If true it felt inevitable, even excluding the footballing side at the moment, the fact Conte’s family are still in Italy and as Alfie’s mentioned above that he’s still staying in a hotel, plus we knew from the off Conte wasn’t going to be a project manager/ long term option. Question is, what do we do now? We’re obviously not backing him as we’ve seen so far this window, so surely it’s better to part ways, bring in someone new (a progressive manager this time) and get them a couple of signings with the remaining days of the window and hope for the best for the second half of the season?
If this is correct I see no point in him staying, as he seems to me to have already switched off and I see no chance of him motivating the current group of players in the same manner he as did in the 2nd half of last season. So in my opinion he should go, however who are we realistically going to target to replace him, I like other people have no faith in Levy to appoint the right man, and I am not sure who fits the bill. I can see Conte going and Poch coming back, I am ambivalent about this I do think that he may be able to take the existing squad and makes us play better football, but equally he came up short before and I am not convinced that we will be any closer to challenging under him in the long term than we are now. Every time we lose a manager we seem to start a new chapter without any real plan, sacking Conte now may well result in the same again but if he stays I can only see the season limping on to a disappointing conclusion, equally letting him go and putting someone like Mason in charge will likely have the same result.
Forget the club issuing a statement re: Paratici, the club must order a statement disavowing ourselves of any connection to this bloke... please log in to view this image
Everything is reaching a crossroads at the same time... Current coach; Possible replacement coach; Director of Football; Possible (non)-replacement of DoF; Squad capability to compete for the stated goals; Financial ability to improve the squad to compete for (let alone achieve) the stated goals; Supporter confidence in the Chairman to make any sporting decision correctly; Concern about a potential sale (partial sale) to buyers many find unacceptable; realisation that most of our best players are going to leave soon; there are bound to be oothers but I've got to go for my daily walk to let off steam... To my mind, we just kick decisions down the road and have been doing so since the stadium build. The club can't be all things to all people. We're either a family club or we have to act like a big club. The landscape has changed from when ENIC took over...but we're avoiding making the most important decision of the lot... What is the point of Tottenham Hotspur under ENIC's ownership in an age of Manchester City and Newcastle's boundless riches?
Gianluca Di Marzio has stated as fact that Conte's off at the end of the season as his contract expires and the club are not asking for a renewal ...and then very quickly walked it back when Lyall Thomas asked for clarification, saying instead that Conte is focusing on the season at hand and it is merely Di Marzio's opinion that Conte probably walks at the end of the season In other words, either Di Marzio said too much and had to walk it back after an angry phonecall, or he just got found telling porkies...which is pretty much a given since we were offering Conte a new contract six weeks ago
Matt Law's come out of the gate saying that Conte hasn't made a decision about his future and will make a decision nearer the end of the season, or possibly after In other words, Di Marzio dropped a clanger and there's blood in the water, and for a change it isn't ours
He'll bring Dele, lo celso and Ndombele back into the fold and make Dier captain... The good days are returning baby
Wether Conte stays or goes is irrelevant so long as Levy knows ‘knocking it about a bit’ will appease the institutionalised fan base He will have an out new manager bounce will have everyone salivating and justifying their stance cannot wait for manager number 4 to take over from Poch’s project and take us to the next stage blah blah DNA…blah blah Danny blanchflower blah blah back in the day personally couldn’t give a **** anymore and will sit back and observe the brain farts from owner and fan base as has become the common cycle of these things.
Some dogshit tier Italian journo says we've opened talks with Poch Likely complete crap, but we'll see if anyone bites further up the tier list
