You're like me mate. I can take the piss out of where I come from, but woebetide anyone else who does
Yeah, so much for the govt. cracking down on the supermarkets - never happened. In fact they played into their hands when successive chancellors have increased beer duty year on year - their easy way of raising income. But they over did it and after 2013 are now receiving less in beer duty than they did before. They're also receiving less in income tax due to the thousands of pub and brewery workers who have lost their jobs due to closures. So much for the efforts of the Minister for Pubs ! Maybe the beer duty should be transferred to alcopops - get responsible adults back to he pubs and penalise the stupid youngsters.
I could never pay £5 quid for a pint - I'd rather stay thirsty ...I reckon £3 is the limit and even that's too much
Stay up in God's own country Diddles. Guinness is £4:00 in my local Lagers are £3:60ish Peroni is £3:90 London is more than that!
One of the reasons I seldom go 'down south' - and thank **** I usually get free beer or two when gigging - if I had to visit a pub (outside of work) I would choose a Wetherspoon establishment good choice of ales and continental lagers and usually cheaper than a majority of pubs
My local is quite good. £2.60 for Coors Light & plenty of guest ales which they regularly change for £1.95. Not too shabby.
This has been my local for the best part of my life, not that I ever went in that much. The Lord Nelson in Monkton Village, Jarrow. Now living in County Durham and I haven't visited any of the pubs around here.
£2:60 for a pint of Coors in your pub, or half a pint of guinness in the pub near our main office on Moorgate
Good decent atmosphere, a lot of the local older folk get in too. I think it's about £3.50 a pint. Often get bands on around the back and have family days throughout the summer.
Guinness has always been pricey but **** me mate, £2.60 a half? That's taking the piss. No wonder places are closing down. Some of these guest real ales my local is putting on are spot on, one of them was 5.6%.
We've just got the one pub in the village now. There were originally about a dozen. The brewery wanted to raise the beer prices even more but the landlord refused. These bloody big breweries are destroying the British Local!!
