Now you are saying you know I am arrogant... I didn’t think we knew each other? How can you know that? So you are allowed to notice something in me but I am not allowed to notice it in you? One rule for one?

I don’t know you, so I am talking about some of your posts. You don’t know me. Just get over it or put me on ignore.

You did actually say I was a jerk too, or should I have saved that <laugh>

    Now, now, play nice children.

So France win the world cup. In the end, I guess they deserved it though Croatia certainly gave a good account of themselves. We'd have been slaughtered by France. As for the penalty, initially I didn't think it was because it looked like he was trying to move his hand out of the way of the ball, but in doing so he did hit and redirect it, so as much as I wanted Croatia to win, I can't argue with that penalty. It doesn't have to be deliberate to be a penalty after all.

As for France winning, I would have prefered Croatia because they've never won the World Cup before but as a country I do like France and I did read that the success of the national team had had a galvenising fact on unifying French society, which seems as divided as ours but for different reasons. Furthermore, I generally don't like teams who have recently won the world cup to win but France last won it in 1998 and iirc that was a good year and a good world cup. At least nostalgia says so. Though both in my own life and in society as a whole, things in 1998 seemed to be more hopeful and optimistic.
