I am led to believe that Saints & Hants Police want it played at Staplewood in front of only club staff and players family, possibly with it being shown live on youtube or something similar.
Shame if that comes to pass. Website suggests St Marys as the venue and I remember going to a reserve game back when we were both in the perm about 10 years ago and it passed without incident.
As it turns out we've both got players in our academy that used to play for the other team. Be interesting to see this match pan out. Our senior team has humbled yours on more than one occasion in recent matches. Lets hope our academy does the same.
If we drew Pompey in the FA Cup proper, we all know that Mauricio would play a severely weakened team despite our howls of protest.
Tbf, Southampton Saints women's team could probably hammer the Pompey men's team, and they don't even seem that good (no offense)
Be very long odds for our senior team to beat yours at the moment. But then again you've gotta beat us sometime. 9 years now I think. I would like to see a match between PFC academy vs 1st team. Maybe that would give them the kick up the ass they need, when they beat by a bunch of 16 year olds.
Thought you had a bunch of hungry first team players who would all die for the shirt? Nope? More journeymen with no ambitions apart from getting a paycheck?
The problem at the moment is that they have lots of very good players on the payroll, none of which is actually playing for them. Once that burden has been removed they could probably make progress.
I realise that many Pompey fans are fairly realistic and just glad to have a club, but there were quite a few of their fans who thought they would storm the league. Possibly if you are relegated and keep your original team, but Pompey are in a rebuilding phase. Their biggest asset is a large fan base for the lower leagues, but they still have large outgoings. Patience is needed.
Radio commentator said the team was booed off on Saturday. I'm sure he must have been mistaken because Pompey fans never do that do they?
Well you lot do keep saying so. Any time the team doesn't put in a shift, especially seeing as the fans at literally paying there wages, they deserve to hear those boos. The absolute minimum for any players of any team is that they come off the pitch having given absolutely everything. If they don't wanna play for the manager or the staff or the owners that's fine. But the fans are the ones that are paying hard earned money to watch them ponce around and not be bothered. It's a disgrace when it happens in front of any set of fans. In fact it's more than that. It's an insult.
Understandable reaction. When Saints were playing under Poortvliet, the fans were constantly bitching that nobody was trying or putting in a shift, as they say. I nearly always saw it differently. The players were busting a gut every game and getting demoralised, but coming back and trying hard. The fact was, they didn't know what to do, and didn't clearly know their tasks. They were badly coached, and in the main, too inexperienced, as we were playing mostly kids at the time. They simply didn't know what was expected of them. Also, there were insufficient key players of quality. You could be suffering from a similar combination. Players very rarely don't give a ****, even if it's from a selfish viewpoint only. It's their bread and butter to care.
Wow Pompey fans booing, what ever next. My first derby was at Falling down park and we wiped the floor with them 7-1 and I really can't remember a boo or a Pompey fan leaving early
News! It's at St Mary's on the 10th December, 7pm. Suck on that Hants Police. Adults fiver, kids 2 quid.
