    Does Martinez not register ?
Very likeable guy, clearly has tactical awareness, clever in transfer market, plays good football, has the ability to keep big names and commands respect.
I think he has everything we need in a manager....

How will Arsenal attract these managers if they finish 5th?

They might get AVB then to manager them <laugh>

God but Bodwanki and Tobes can just be real thick. What I said was that the managers job at Everton was minuscule in comparison to what a new manager would be faced with if/when they took the Arsenal job on. The rest of the crap regarding Everton was just a smoke screen from those 2 who couldn't admit what every Arsenal fan already knows to be true.

Just go back and look at the names that were suggested by Arsenal fans as potential candidates (apart from Martinez). They are all very experienced and successful managers at BIG clubs. They would come with all of that experience behind them and in the full knowledge that they would need all of that experience to both maintain the standing that Arsenal already have and to change the clubs reputation for not actually winning trophies. They would also have seen what has happened at United. that is why I said that the requirements of the Arsenal job was far far bigger than anything that Martinez had ever faced.

As for the comment that a new manager would have to undertake a re-building job. That is not a slur on the existing players. However, a new manager is going to have their own take on 'the Arsenal Way'. Does anybody believe that a new manager would not want to change personnel - especially if winning things was one of their major tasks?

As for Everton being a much smaller club then just think that whilst your board was having mega-million battles, Everton were and still are, desperately trying to sell the club. Then ask yourself if they would, or could, spend what you did on Ozil? Then look at the Deloitte figures on relative values between your 2 clubs.

So I've said my piece and I'll leave you in peace.

Yay, another thread ruined by Liverpool's moronic cretins.

Back on topic, Klopp has to be the priority. He's basically a young Wenger, just more tactically astute.

We're Arsenal, we have a ton of resources, the backbone of a very good squad, and a very relaxed board willing to give people time. And we can pay him a fortune. Don't see why he wouldn't want the job.

I think wenger will be here for two more years and will leave after that whether he has won everything or nothing. So I'm trying to think of which managers might, be available after a couple more years in there current job.

It'd be good to see how klopp does competing with bayern in the next couple of seasons given the players they seem to be losing.

Maybe in a couple of seasons guardiola will have dominated German football and be looking for a challenge in the English league?

When Wenger decides to go, and it will be his choice there's no way he'll ever be sacked, the biggest influence on his successor will be Wenger himself, I'm convinced he'll be tasked with identifying suitable options....

Taking over from any manager who has been in the job for as long as Wenger has been would be a nightmare for anyone, as David Moyes is finding out at United. Surprised no one has mentioned Martin O' Neill as a possibility.

The mistakes that Moyes made are there for all to see.
He inherited a very old squad and tried to "make his mark" immediately by replacing everyone in the coaching staff. That's too big a change to make so quickly, and the result is not knowing what you're meant to be doing.
Someone who comes in, as Arsene did at Arsenal, and doesn't change everything but adjusts where he sees necessary will be much more successful. You build your ideas over a season or two, don't smash them in peoples faces immediately.

He's just signed a new 4 year deal hasn't he? I don't doubt we can out do Dortmund financially but it would be very pricey and we're nothing if not tight-wads.

Most of these players are youth players or stop-gaps Rafa signed because Parry etc didn't want to shell out for the likes of Simao, Alves etc.

Some of them make me shudder <yikes>

He had other good signings - Benayoun, Agger, Skrtel, Maxi, Aurelio, Kuyt off the top of my head.
