Eric My last wasn't aimed at you but at those who seemed to think I was claiming the legal system to be a paragon of virtue and justice. Anybody can see that's not true. I really can't be arsed going back to find it, but someone earlier suggested that Gerrard got off because he was a Liverpool player and the implication was that if it had been say, Rooney, he'd have been sentenced to death or something. This was the suggestion I was refuting. Obviously, rich people can afford the best legal counsel and can get off with things that lesser mortals can't. The whole adversarial system of justice is a joke imo and I could get off on a good ol' rant about that- but this is a football forum and I'm sticking to football related topics. If the courts are LFC sopporters, great. Let's take more advantage of it. Bit ironic, the title of this thread and where it's gone to.
I think that footballers get more attention when they're let off the hook as they're in the media spotlight constantly. Someone equally wealthy, in the same circumstances, would probably get off scot free aswell. There's a lot money can do, and a lot lawyers will do for it. Most of the people who end up in courts are LFC supporters at least
Barnsey thinks Downing would be a great signing and he'd take him before Mata. On LFC Interactive he talked about buying players for how you intend to play and noted we don't play like a Spanish team so as good as Mata is he might not suit us as well as Downing. He also made the point that you don't see a player's character until the team isn't doing so well. He highlighted that Henderson, Downing and Adam all stepped up for their clubs when the going got tough this season.
Oh, and as the OP was mito I think I should point out; David Ngog is still with us. Now that's got to be positive Hasn't it?
