With the club releasing a statement to the stock regulator, how close could a deal be?

This is fantastic news and will force a change of playing policy if he is going to score goals.

Only one header from that clip I believe and none (?) from set pieces. No long balls into the box, they were passes into him.

The touch from that long ball out to control was absolutely Berbatovesque, truly superb with a fantastic finish. They were moments of quality that you just cannot fake. He looks like he's got good movement too which the Prem defenders aren't the brightest at picking up.

Lets hope it does give the team and the manager the spark to be more attractive and try and win a few more games.

Great to hear you so positive, Carrabuh! Hate to be the one to point out that he's 6'1", so obviously can't pass the ball, but if others can get it to him, he may be able to do the job anyway! <laugh> Seriously, I think he would give a great option up front and, as you say, would encourage more movement in approach play. Fingers crossed then! I thought I saw more than one header as well.

Not being negative but quite a lot of weak defending on that goal montage
He will have less time on the ball / more defensive company in the epl

I disagree, defending in the Premier League is pretty poor, less time on the ball means more space to move into.

Inclined to agree with this. The defending is at least very different, better or worse depends on how you feel teams should defend. PL defending tends to be big strong good in the air whereas abroad they often deal with better movement rather than lots of crosses into the box. Also there is often lots of pressing in the PL which is fantastic if done well however it only takes one player to get it wrong and it can open up huge amounts of space. Especially if the oppositions movement is good.

I'd love to see RVW here. A different option to what we have currently and much better movement. Would make us a more mobile team and hopefully allow us to develop a more fluid style of football in time.

He's the kind of player that everything is in the corner of the net if you know what I mean. He seems to have a very intimate relation with the goal lol. He also seems very cool and collected in front of goal.

He has a sort of Hernandez quality about him I think. Represents perfectly the player we need to be getting over the summer. A perfect statement of intent to other teams around us as well. You only have to look how pissed off he Newcastle and Liverpool fans are on twitter to see they don't like the idea of "little old Norwich" buying a good player. We've upset the natural order and they don't like change. They are going to have to get use to it.

Great feeling leading up to Wigan!

If we want to lose the 'Little old Norwich' tag, this is the way to do it. If Liverpool, Newcastle and Spurs don't like it, they shouldn't have hesitated when the opportunity was there!

Not sure he's next years Michu, he'll be less of a revelation, but I genuinely believe that if Hughton plays it right RvW can fire us on to bigger and better things

Well, I think this is exactly the type of player we need to be getting and he seems quite clinical when offered an opportunity to finish. It would be great to see more goals from 'open play' - or should that just be 'MORE GOALS?????' <ok>

It's been poor this season I agree
My point was also it will be harder for him to score inengland compared to holland and Portugal
I think he will be very good prospect that said, some good movement and finishing on the clips

The Dutch have a history of some top notch footballers and strikers in particular. I can immediately think of Bergkamp, Van Nistelroy, Van Persie and Van Hooijdonk. Lets hope that we have unearthed one who will measure up the same. Strikers are so important and cost so much that if you manage to get every other one a success than you are doing well.

    Just a couple of observations
    a) According to reports I have heard he is a striker who plays off another striker and cannot play the lone striker role.

    b) If he signs and we also get Kamara then presumably Bechio becomes 4th choice - not what he envisaged 2 months ago when he signed.

    c) For those excited at the prospect of 2 strikers and 2 wingers I suggest caution. Our current back 4 seem to need 2 defensive midfielders to function securely. A back 4, 2 DM's, 2 wingers and 2 strikers leaves a massive square void in the middle even if one of the DM's pushes forward when we attack. I suspect that one of the wingers will have to be sacrificed.

1950, I don't think he'll be a lone striker, I think he'll likely play off Holt/Becchio or maybe Kamara, in a more similar role to Hoolahan, but with less of a requirement to defend. If we sign a quality DM, allowing us to sometimes play with only 1 in that position, the idea of Van Wolfsinkel alongside Hoolahan, Howson (in a more advanced role) or Butterfield to carve out chances sounds amazing.

As for Becchio being 4th choice, that's for him to solve. He wanted to play Premier League football so it's up to him to prove he's up to the task. But, Holt is highly unlikely to play every game next season, and Kamara is yet to sign, so Becchio is likely to get his chances to impress, and it's up to him to prove he should be picked ahead of Holt.

As I think I've touched upon above, the addition of a real quality DM (please let us sign Biglia) should ideally allow us to give more license to attack to Tettey (who proved earlier in the season he can both get forward and defend), or Howson. I realise in this I've rather marginalised Johnson, who has been excellent this season. Should another DM come in, I think Johnson will be strong competition should either the new signing or Tettey lose form, and also as a more solid defensive option to be played against stronger opposition, or to come on and tighten us up when defending a lead.

Who's to say no one else will bid, as soon as someone like Liverpool or newcastle bid that will probably be the end of that.

He has been playing the lone role all season for a very average side and although he doesnt mind playing behind the striker there is no secret on his preference for his favorite position...

If the reports are true and Sporting need to sell before Saturday unless the president will be fined then hopefully we will see some big movment today.

You forgot Van Basten Redruth, had his career not been cut short through injury he would probably be classed as their best ever IMO <ok>
