A second away game in succession sees us visit top of the table Portsmouth. Can we bring any points back to Kent?

Portsmouth the early front runners and have already taken victory at their biggest challenge to date away to the Posh. We generally don't tend to fair well against Pompey albeit we did win at their place in March. Ignoring the 4-0 tanking we took in the EFL Trophy.

Interesting to note, that of the six points our hosts have dropped so far this season, four of those were at home against the two teams directly above us, Shrewsbury and Wycombe, so there is always hope!

Our form is shocking but at least Shrewsbury demonstrated with someone like Eaves in the team we have the goal scoring ability.

The last 2-2 draw against Portsmouth was back in 1920 - I'm not even sure @itstimupnorth even remembers that one ;)

98 years later in the black and white strip....

    2-2 (Eaves x 2)

This fixture has been described as a 'dockyard derby'. The way our season is panning out, we could only compete in a donkey derby.

A lot of negativity in this thread at the moment, so once again it's left up to me to inject a more positive note.
In the league Portsmouth have already lost, ok none! but we can be the first,
We have scored 13 goals and they've only got 12, ok that's a positive GD of 12 but still.
Their defence is a weak spot, they have already conceded 8 goals, admittedly that is 12 less than us.
So with all the stats looking so positive (for one team anyway) how can anybody not predict a Gills win.

Portsmouth 1 v 2 Gillingham (Lowe, Parker, Hanlan)

@grumpygit there is a reason you are below me in the prediction league, albeit alphabetically but below me just the same <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Anyway, if you can pass some of your drugs on me it would be much appreciated ;)

I also share @grumpygit 's positivity and I'm going for the same scoreline as in March. I mean Pompey have got to lost at some time right? Might aswell be to us!

Pompey 1-3 Gills (Lowe; Hanlan, Eaves & O'Neill)

I am going to be very positive we are the MIGHTY KENT BLUES, positivity over.
Thrashing on the cards, Boro at home to Barnsley can see this being a draw and Pompie go 5 points clear and we gain more nails in the coffin.

    pompi 4 v 1 GILLS ( Curtis x2,Lowe, Burgess and eaves)

Just been looking at the Sky highlights of this fixture last season. We're certainly missing Lee Martin's touch this season..... :-(
