His mother was lifelong best friends with my mother. I saw him a few years ago. In 2018, I took my mother to central Missouri to visit Mrs. Henke before she passed, and Tom served us some delicious fried chicken. He's just a big happy farm boy these days, a far cry from an all-star World Series champion closer.

Incidentally, my uncle who took me to that game has a framed poster on his wall.1965/66 European cup winners Real Madrid were playing an exhibition match in Vancouver. My uncle ripped down one of the posters, found the team having breakfast at their hotel and went round them asking them to sign it. Whole team obliged, Eusebio, Di Stefano. I would love to see it valued, although I don’t think that will ever happen.
