Apparently Spuds, with their inexplicable unlimited funds, are interested. Personally I'm looking forward to the day 'Arry leaves and Spurs go bankrupt

we were linked with him in the summer

hell of a player. we played porto in the champs league a couple of seasons ago and he gave our defenders a torrid time because hes so quick and strong and direct. he's added a lot of goals to his game recently too ive heard. dunno if the north would suit him though looking at this pic

I read it somewhere too yeah, but can't remember where now. Evidently just rumours like, but the type of rumours we like, in comparison to..say...the ones about C. Cole. (y)

Would love him, cracking player, he's got pace, strength, great movement and can put a decent cross in too, but unfortunately doubt we'd get him. Too much and bigger clubs are after him.
We'd become Newcastle "The Justice League" United though, what with Hulk, Spiderman, Super Shola and the power that is Cheick Tiote all in the same team.

Think the fee will be too high and he'll go to a fellow CL team to be honest. I'll be surprised if we try to get him, but delighted if it happens <ok>

His ambition may play a big part of it, he may want guaranteed Champions League.

Financially, a bid of around £28m could do it, with the remaining money from the Carroll transfer paying for 2 years wages (assuming a wage of around 80k pw). And don’t forget we are now around 30k pw week better off because Carroll has gone.

Lot of assumptions, but trying to point out that financially it shouldn’t be a problem.

That would be the entire budget on one player though, Carroll's money is a chance to replace him and bulk up the squad rather than just improving on him, which Hulk certainly is.

I think this is why it wouldn't be a bad thing to spend the money on one player.

Even without that AC transfer, we still would have got money to spend this summer. So that could be used to sign one or two other players.

But you should know by now how tight MA is with money, any money we do spend will be on the Carroll sale and other outgoing players, Benny was signed for £5 mil and didn't spend a penny more (apart form loans) money and the money that comes in by being in the premier league won't make a blind bit of difference.
