As opposed to using kids who are below the age of requiring to be registered but could legally be played.

If you picked someone not on the list that is over the age cutoff that is a separate violation, an inelligable player. They WILL enforce that rule.

The squad rule is not enforced (and probably couldnt be enforced) but technically the rule is you are supposed to play your STRONGEST team. (From the 25 man squad and eligible kids). Resting players in the CL to preserve them for a domestic competition is technically against their rules.

 

cannot see any reference to this in UEFA CL rules. Have you a link ? though quite how they determine "strongest team" is an interesting concept.

 

Not without looking for a link. I just remember it being a big deal during the Real Madrid match and several times watching games hearing compensators mentioning teams being in risk of violation. I will Google.

6.01 On entering the competition, participating clubs agree:
a. to play in the competition until their elimination and to field their strongest
team throughout the competition;

 

That can't be enforceable surely.

If say we had salah not match fit and only a sub as to not risk injury how could eufa force us to play him as he would be part of any strongest team we could put out.

 

They don't usually enforce it. As, I said in a previous comment, I suspect the reason it is there is to prevent the situation where a club doesn't take the tournament seriously and doesn't try because they're concentrating on domestic league.

Back in 2014 when Rodgers played the B team against Real Madrid we didn't get punnished so I doubt we would get punnished resting Salah.

All Klopp would have to say is Salah wasn't completely fit so wasn't part of strongest XI on the day.

 

Klopp has already said he won't play a week team, he probably knows that saying it gets the club in trouble. He'll change one or two and use the subs well.

 

Our 'B' team performed far better than our 'A' team was performing in the league anyway and contained many players who fans wanted to start anyway (Allen, Lucas, Lallana, Can and even Borini was doing better than Balotelli), but they didn't because they weren't the big names. The only player from the bench I would have started on that day was Coutinho in place of Markovic. The 'A' team got smashed 3-0 in the first game and lost to Newcastle too!

 

its a fair cop guv you've got me bang to rights but think of my wives 17 children and Dog.

i struggle to see how they would enforce that if the 11 came from the CL squad but yep they could if it suited them.

 

They'll do it one day to make an example of someone and then not enforce it again for another 10 years... You know, traditional UEFA consistency.
