I get the feeling that FIFA are not that bothered but the Poppy could be interpreted by other Euro nations as a political symbol and without FIFA doing something then the whole lot will follow. We know what it means to us and it was worn so we can take whatever comes our way.

Summat and nowt in the end.

FIFA needs dismantling & a new governing body set up.
I despise everything they stand for.

Could be right there - is this the warm up to start of Brexit negotiations from the Germans ???
I'd take Teresa May to win that argument -she gave FIFA short shrift - can see this running as FIFA have said their action has no time limit - probs be as we invoke article 50 !!

How can it be considered political. As far as I am aware, the British Legion is a charity. Not a political movement

It`s been worn on lapels for 50 years without any bother. Suddenly, overnight it becomes political?

It may be a FIFA diversionary tactic to deflect the trouble they are in themselves. You know, demonstrating how they have ethics, disciplinary measures etc.

As if that will work. <doh>

If it hadn't of been for the men that the poppies are worn for fighting and I mean proper fighting for their Country, Creed and the freedom of dictatorship, half these sad ****ers wouldn't be here now to have their whinge..

A lot of people now, need to have a long look in the mirror at themselves..

Since 1916 mate when the Battle of the Somme ended.
100 years of commemoration when Britain remembers it's war dead.

Some traditions should never be messed with, I don't care what FIFA say.

Our Gov't can foot any bill that FIFA may fine us, if they can hand £369m to the queen of taxpayers money to refurbish Buckingham Palace, it's the least they can do.

I wonder if FIFA would do the same to Australia & New Zealand on ANZAC day?

Somewhere in the PC rules within FIFA there will be one about political symbolism or sponsorship on international shirts.

    Its not political symbolism though.

As QWOP said, it's a charitable issue. There are no political persuasions to it

Couldn't agree more. I don't think FIFA are being malicious though, just applying the rules to avoid precedent possibly.

The precedent has already been set. FIFA sanctioned it 3 years ago. That's why this is so ridiculous!

That is my issue more than anything else. Where is the consistency? Absolute joke in my opinion

Totally agree mate. the only political aspect to this is what FIFA brings to it, which pretty much shoots down their own argument.
