Been watching City for nearly 50 years and never felt so pissed off. It was a ****ing shambles from the moment the team was announced to the final whistle. We had 12 games left to get 12 points. 7 of the the games really tough. This was a hard game but one we should have taken to the opposition. Bruce has chucked in the towel.
Come on PLT. You know this was a case of Figgy being more defensively minded than Robbo. Only reason he started.
Figgy wasn't in the squad last week but he starts today at wing back, mind boggling. I don't actually mind Figueroa as a left back in a back 4 but come on we all know he's not a wing back.
Except he's made way more defensive ****ups for us than Robertson has. He was loaned out and hasn't done anything special for us or Wigan since then to get back in the team. Bruce keeps going on about Robertson's age which is bullshit cos in the autumn he kept saying the complete opposite, that if you're good enough you're old enough. We can't just keep giving up on players after one mistake, and repeatedly playing ****ter players regardless of form just cos they're a bit older.
I sometimes felt earlier in the season that Robertson often left the centre back on his side (often Davies) exposed when he's attacking. Figgy today was put out there to fill the gap next to McShane and he reluctantly and rarely made his way beyond the half way line as a result. He wasn't played because he's an amazing left back who will do loads for us. He was there to defend and, between the two of them, Bruce must have felt Figgy would do that job better. I like Robertson but I think we tend to play him against teams we are going to attack - possibly Sunderland on Tuesday.
Today we played 5-3-2, Figueroa was played as a left back in a back five. No way in the world could today's line up be classed as a 3-5-2, actually it was probably more of a 5-5-0, and that's why we reaped what we sowed.
yeah, complete rubbish today, the team selection and individuals performances were terrible today! Hernandez should of started with Ramirez and Meyler should of been hauled off at half time (he had a terrible game) Bruce was right to leave N'doye on the bench but he should of come on to partner Hernandez alot earlier! we set up to draw & lost.....serves us right!
It was a secret mission as he was assassinating that Russian politician. His stop in Senegal was just to through off any pursuit.
Incredible you went to the effort. Presumably one of those posts where, on reflection, you wondered why you bothered?
I can't really speak for ellewoods, but stuff like that usually takes about five seconds to think up, there's no effort needed at all. I think you've said something similar to one of my posts before, it's a bit of a diservice to think that I actually sit there and think about what I'm going to type and that it actually takes a decent amount of time to create a response. I know we aren't all quick witted, but honestly mate, it's no bother at all.
I am sure it is the same with you but I think it took me longer to read the post I quoted than come up with the idea for the reply. Although now that I think about it I did have to build a diagram and call in a friend to help figure it all out. We took a photo. In case you are wondering I am clearly the guy on the right and I am in no way wearing a shirt similar to the guy on the left. please log in to view this image There was some strange man yelling at me, INFILTRATE THE DEALERS AND FIND THE SUPPLIER!! I dont know what he was on about.
Says it all, really. He breathes. No. Nor should he be our LB in a ****e 5-5-0 line-up. I watched the Sunderland game yesterday and they are no worse than Stoke, who we should have attacked and we could have beat. N'Doye should have started and played first half. Robertson to replace Brady and continue our 3-5-2 successes. This was nothing like the team that almost beat Manchester City; to think that is delusional. If Bruce seriously thought he started this game with an attacking threat then he should be sacked now. If Bruce thought to set up for a draw was good tactics then he should be sacked now. During the week, Dawson spoke of Crouch and how he understands his game and his danger, so why did he not attach himself to him? To be fair though, Peter Crouch is good, he is far better than he is given credit for and he he the striker we should have moved heaven and earth for.
Yesterdays result unfortunately has planted seeds of doubt in my mind that if we stay up I think we need someone to take us to the next level. If we go down then we may as well stick with Bruce. I hate thinking that but I can't help it.
Its just so frustrating. The lads would have been so confident and up for the game and with that selection its like he doesnt trust in them or believe they can do it. Unbeaten in 3 games, won our last two. It was simple, Abel in for Jelavic and Robbo in for Brady. Like for like. Ok maybe Figgy as he's physical but, keep the same team as much as possible.
Unfortunately none of this is new. We did the same at Wolves and Barnsley two seasons ago, then Norwich and Palace last season, and Burnley this season. We set up all defensive for a draw, get hit by a soft goal anywhere between 65 and 90 minutes and simply cannot change our game to go and get an equaliser. Then at places like the Etihad we think we are going to get stuffed so might as well give it a go and end up with a result. I suppose that given he was a defender its natural.
playing robertson ahead of figuero would of been absolutely stupid & brain dead, infact its the only thing Bruce got right yesterday. Robertson can't defend for toffee and with no strikers I believe we were set up to defend
Not exactly. But watching yesterday you saw him reluctantly and rarely go and attack. He sat in against the back three and protected them from Macca's side. Figgy actually played well yesterday and did the job he was supposed to do. He was replaced when we needed to go and attack for an equaliser.
