They are extraordinarily privileged, and as a result a lot are spoiled. But the press goes out of it’s way to focus on the negative stuff. Plenty of clubs and their players do good work in their local communities.
If the clubs really need a mid season break why not have it between Christmas Eve and New Years Day gives the Managers and players some time with their families As our Cup competitions cause so many problems for the "Elite" teams how about this The teams playing in the European group stages opt out of the League Cup and leave that for the teams it was introduced for leaving in replays etc The teams playing the European knockout stages have the option to opt out of the FA Cup for that season leaving it for the teams who take it seriously and using the old format of replays where needed
I don’t think that’s a daft suggestion at all, but I doubt the clubs in question would go for it, and they’d claim their absence devalued the competition, as they want to have their cake and eat it.
I have to say that I would be totally pissed off if Chelsea pulled out of any of the cup competitions, including the league cup. I say that the so called elite teams should STFU. You wanted CL football and you've got it.
I agree with you and Tobes The bigger the teams are the bigger the first team squad, and the cups are the perfect option for players not getting enough game time and the best of the youngsters to see how they can step up Replays are not a problem for most of the Premier League teams and the test of the entire football pyramid As stated before if it really is such an inconvenience to the then opt and and then see how long the rest of football wants to watch them
Anyone think Klopp will whinge when the CL format is changed and extra games added, where will he fit them in, will he send the kids out and refuse to turn up himself? I hope the extra games fall in Feb during the "winter break"
