Wigan in possession play it long and handle it in the Pompey area but nothing given. Scrappy in midfield and forced out for a Wigan throw. Back to the Wigan keeper who plays it long only for Pompey to clear it. Another long ball almost gets Wigan clear on the near side but Pompey get it away. A wayward ball goes out for a Pompey throw.
Pompey trying to work down the right but a foul given to Wigan for Pitman backing into thier player. Wigan try to advance but foul a Pompey player.
Long ball by McGee is almost worked into the box by Pompey but Wigan get it away and play a long ball that Whatmough calmly heads to McGee. McGee's long ball leads to some head tennis but Naismith gets it down and tries to move in field only to overrun it. It's worked out wide on the near side and crossed into Pitman, just behind him and he cant bring it down. He fouled the Wigan defender and Wigan have a freekick that they play long and Pompey get clear.
A Pompey throw near their own corner flag with Clarke off getting some medical treatment. Wigan look to take advantage of the brief extra man advantage quickly get a cross into the box which leads to a good volley from Grigg and an excellent save from McGee.
Pompey throw in the Wigan half, Lowe tries to get it free but Wigan crowd him out. Another Wigan throw, which Pompey pick up and almost get in the box but Wigan clear and try to advance. They get crowded out, the ball goes clear but the action gets stopped as Evans gets hit in the face by the clearance - I didn't see it clearly so not entirely sure what happened.
Dropball playes straight to Wigan's keeper who kicks it long to see it cleared by Pompey.Wigan pick it up in midfield and try to work it forward but get charged down. Naismith in possession overruns it and the ref stops play to calm down Naismith and Morsey after a Naismith foul. Naismith yellow carded.
Wigan play it across thier back line before the keeper plays a long ball. Advantage played after a Pompey foul comes to nothing for Wigan as Pompey get it clear. Pitman fighting away but loses the ball. Wigan looking to advance again gets the ball in the box but Clarke heads it out. Wigan still controlling possession, Powell takes a long shot that goes low and wide. Goal kick.
McGee's goal kick goes long and is picked up by Pompey but then over hit and goes out for a Wigan goal kick. This is cleared by Pompey but Wigan pick up possession only to kick it out for a Pompey throw. The throw it headed back by Pompey and kicked out for a Wigan throw. Wigan play it back to their own defence then play a long ball forward and it's out for another throw before being cleared.
Pompey pick up the ball and Lowe crosses well from the right but no one attacks it. Pompey still have the ball around Wigan's box but they get it away. A long shot from Evans goes low and wide. Wigan goal kick.
Five minutes remain and Pompey have yet to make a single sub. Pompey attacking again, Pitman free in the middle of the pitch tries a long shot that goes very high.
Long ball by Wigan is cleared, Lowe is crowded out and it's another throw. Pompey play the ball forward, they play it into the box and Wigan get it away. Wigan play it across the pitch but struggle to get forward. Eventually Wigan get the ball into the box and they score. Pompey 2 - 1 Wigan. A minute plus injury time to go
Five minutes of injury time. Wigan attacking and Pompey clear. Wigan in possession, playing around thier backline, A longball forward, Wigan free on the left but fail to get it in the box after Thompson forces them to over play it.
Wigan in possession but their forward ball cut out and put out for a throw. The throw is cleared by Whatmough and ends up with the Wigan keeper. Wigan attacking again, attempted cross put out for a corner. The Wigan corner is deep and headed back across the box but no Wigan player was there and Pompey get it clear. Again Wigan come forward and again they get it into the box but Whatmough heads it out for another corner. The Wigan Keeper has comes forward for this one. The corner is cleared, Wigan still have if and their keeper stayed forward, another cross cut out and a foul. Pompey freekick. One minute to go.
The long ball is cleared, Pitman wanted a foul but didn't get it, Wigan retain possession in midfield and advance down the center, they work it wide and cross into the box but Pompey get it away. It's out for a throw. It's over! Pompey win! 2-1 over Wigan!
