Match Day Thread Pompey vs Wigan

Wigan play a long ball which they keep hold of and get fouled. An early freekick on the edge of Pompey's box that hits the wall, bounces around the penalty area before getting clear but Wigan retain possession and look to attack again. Pompey get it and play it long, Naismith keeps hold of it but with few options hits a weak longshot that Wigan's keeper collects.

 

Wigan throw in worked into the Pompey area but play stopped for a foul and a Pompey freekick.The long ball leads to head tennis and a Wigan freekick.

 

Wigan with the ball on the left try to advance but Pompey put it out for a throw. The Wigan throw is played back towards their own keeper who plays it long and Pompey collect. Pompey with possession play it across field then Whatmough plays a long ball but Pitman's offside.

 

Pompey have a throw in their own half that they play forward and Wigan put out for a throw in their half. Another Pompey throw they try to work into the box but Wigan pick up the ball and attack. A Wigan throw gets played back to their keeper and Pompey try to pressure their defenders. Wigan get it away but Pompey get it back and Powell recovers to kick it out for another throw.

Pompey get the ball but Naismith overruns it and Wigan are back in possession. They try to play it in the box but Lowe collect and kicks it out for a throw.

 

This Wigan throw is cleared by Pompey, Evans running at their defence probably overran it and Powell's down again after failing to win the ball. Pompey playing it around midfield, Thompson free on the right, plays it into Lowe who, calm and collected, spins around and buries it in the net.

The Wigan corner doesn't clear the first man and is cleared but Wigan still on the attack cross the ball in only to put it out for a goal kick.
