Pompey clear the Wigan throw but Wigan get possession back and try to attack. Pompey steal the ball back and play a long ball with goes straight to Wigan's keeper. Wigan back in possession but the through-ball ends up being offside so Pompey have a freekick.
Pompey long ball ushered out for a Wigan throw near their own penalty box. Wigan throw goes, more or less, straight out for a Pompey throw. The ball goes back to McGee who plays a long ball which Wigan collect and move away despite Pompey pressure. Wigan advance down the far side and get a freekick they do nothing with.
Wigan do well to keep hold of the ball and Haunstrup gives away a freekick via obstruction. The freekick is played into the penalty area but they end up having to take it outside the box. Powell is fouled by Thompson - with Powell playing it up a bit - and Thompson gets yellow carded leading to a Wigan freekick to the right of Pompey's area. Played in and headed back across box with a jumping volley attempt getting no power or accuracy and being cleared.
Wigan collect the loose ball and calm things down by playing across their own defence. Pompey pick up a wayway ball but Wigan get it away. Powell advancing falls over and the ref gives nothing, Jacobs falls over looking for a penalty but the ref isn't interested. Pompey get it away.
Wigan get the ball forward and play it across field, a fortunate deflection gets it wide right for Wigan and they play it across the box a bit too hard and it goes out for a goal kick. The referee takes the opportunity to tell off Paul Cook for getting carried away.
Wigan in possession again, Pompey still chasing down, a Wigan throw. Wigan play it forward but Pompey clear then Wigan attack again and Pompey try to run forward but Wigan get it back with Powell who again falls over following a shove - he seems to have trouble staying on his feet - and gets Wigan a freekick on the edge of Pompey's area. The freekick goes straight at the wall and Powell tries to claim handball for a penalty - might have a shout - Pompey eventually clear it after Powell makes another penalty appeal after ending up on his back in the box.
Wigan get it into the box and Pompey get it out for a corner. The Wigan corner is fumbled by McGee with Dunkley possibly fouling him and goes out for another goalkick.
Wigan throw is collected by Pompey but muddled between Pitman and the Wigan defender and Wigan bring it away but overhit it straight to McGee.
Pompey throw in the Wigan half ends up going out for a Wigan throw in basically the same position. Some mucking around at left-back by Clarke before he kicks it out for a Wigan throw. Wigan work it into the box before kicking wide for a goalkick.
Pompey throw in Wigan half again, goes out for a Wigan thrown in the same possition again. The Wigan throw is headed back by Pompey and Wigan play it across field, Pompey almost steal it but Wigan retain possession in the muddle and try to advance. Jacobs fouls Thompson and Pompey get a freekick.
McGee takes the freekick, gets headed out for a Pompey throw in the Wigan half. Pompey managed to work it out for a little space and try to get into the box. Foul! Penalty for Pompey! Very soft. It wasn't a penalty in my view.
Pitman scores! Pompey 1 - 0 Wigan Pitman's the first Pompey player since Todorov to score 20 goals in one season and only the third Pompey player to do so since Guy Whittingham.
Long ball almost gets Naismith clear on the left but Wigan usher it out for a goalkick.The Wigan goalkick is long and headed into the air. Pompey clear it and Pitman gets in a dangerous area in the box, Wigna's defender doesn't deal with it and Pitman shoots but the keeper saves. Pompey corner is deep and cleared and the long shot from Pompey is scuffed. Wigan get it away.
Wigan collect in midfield and bring it forward, get it across goal but Pompey clear it with good defending. Pompey try to work it up field on the right but Lowe gets fouled and play stops for a freekick.
McGee takes the freekick and a weak header allows Lowe to pick it up. He does well to get a throw out of that but the ball is played back to McGee. Lowe gets the ball again and tries to work it into the box but Wigan bring it away down their right before Haunstrup kicks it out of play.
Wigan attacking again but the ball gets away from them and goes out for a goalkick. Two minutes of injury time.
McGee takes the goalkick and it's picked up by Wigan who get it towards Pompey's box, Vaughan goes down looking for a freekick but the ref doesn't give it and Pompey clear. There's the whistle. Halftime. Pompey 1 - 0 Wigan.
