Match Day Thread Pompey vs Rotherham

It must be said this isn't a very good game.

 

We don't seem to like being on TV do we

 

Lowe had a free header and he failed to hit the target. At the very least you have to get it between the posts and below the bar. We've had no shots on target at all this half.

 

Half time and Pompey are a goal down. We've go no cutting edge and even a goal down have no urgency to get forward and score. Like most of our games so far this season I get the feeling we have good foundations to build on but the team's just not that good at the moment.

 

Two subs at half time. Kennedy on for Chaplin and Thompson on for Whatmough.

 

Pompey started the second half with and immediate attack and showing more drive than before the first half whistle. Have to see if it continues.

 

Lowe again clear in the box with and fails to hit the target. Okay, there were several players on the goal line and the keeper recovered but that doesn't matter if we cant even get shots on target. Shooting practice has to be a priority for us on the basis of this match.

 

That was a dangerous boot by Rotherham. Caught Hawkins face in the penality area and given him a gash across his forehead but the ref gave nothing. That was a foul and should have been a penalty.

 

Another foul by Rotherham, and the first card of the game.

 

He led with his elbow. That could have been a red card. Might have been a bit harsh but it wouldn't be the first time someone was sent off for something like that.

 

Gavin Ward is a strange ref.

 

Hawkins has looked a handful today, but with nothing to show for it. Reminds me of Andy Carroll

 

Rotherham have been more incisive and looked the more dangerous throughout. Pompey have had chances but have yet to challenge the keeper.

 

Lowe finally got a shot on target but it was easilly held by the keeper.

 

Hawkins off for Naismith. Hawkins had a good game, I can see him being a really good player for us after he settles in and Pompey get their act together.

 

Lowe taken out by a rash challenge, another Yellow card to Rotherham.

 

Into the last fifteen minutes and Pompey have not looked likely to score the whole game.
