A good win, and three points gained, against a poor Scunthorpe side, in very windy conditions !

We really should have been in front at half time, with both Omar Bogle and Jamal Lowe going close. Viv Solomon-Otabor appears to have picked up a calf injury just before half time, being replaced by Gareth Evans who went to the right wing, and Jamal Lowe switching to the left wing.

We played better football in the second half, with Omar Bogle scoring his fourth goal for PFC since joining us on loan from Cardiff, following a free kick from Gareth Evans. The second goal was brilliantly struck by Jamal Lowe into the roof of the net, from a header down by Oli Hawkins from a long through ball from Nathan Thompson.

Ben Close was named man of the match - well deserved.

Evening Wooperts, 3rd Eye and Devon. Good win. Great to see Lowe, who said at the beginning of the season that he had set a target for himself of 15, was on the scoresheet again. What has happened to the teams fighting for 6th? Doncaster in 6th are closer to the relegation zone in terms of points than they are to Sunderland. so it is possible that the team finishing 6th, who are indeed closer to the team finishing 21st, could get promoted at the expense of the team who they were further away from.pointswise.

I feel Pompey can enjoy their football again. The play-offs are secured barring an almighty collapse, Sunderland and Barnsley could tighten up as they both zoom in on one of the automatic places. Indeed Luton are beginning to slow as the finish line approaches. From my perspective, Pompey took a long time to get over the loss of Ben Thompson and to a lesser extent Green, but the restoration of Pitman has definitely calmed the waters. Thoughts guys?

Evening Ides. Brett Pitman has indeed the experience and footballing ability to play the number ten role behind Omar Bogle. His range of passing, his eye for goal, and his enthusiasm are excellent. He takes a mean penalty, and free kick. Definitely an inspired move by Kenny Jackett bringing him in "out of the cold" to play that role !!

    Another good result!!
Very important to get a good result next weekend so that they maintain good form going into the final.
As noted above return to form in general seems to have some link to Pitman's new role - presumably the No 10 position.
He does however appear to be regularly substituted, even when playing well which would suggest, he does not possess 90minutes of running.

Evening pdu - Brett Pitman lasted 89 minutes before he made way for Dion Donohue. He received a standing ovation from the fans <ok>

Good news that he played a virtually full virtually a full game.
I must say, as a generality, I find substitutions within minutes of full time an annoyance.
Presumably they are thought to break the rhythm of the side playing catch up although I would think any such benefit could be balanced by the substitute being caught out in some way having not picked up the pace of the game. At the margin it could protect a key player from injury. It may also be that a used substitute gets a bigger payday than an unused one so it helps keep the squad happy.
When a neutral spectator however, I find late substitutions a frustration and a rule about no substitutions after 85 minutes would benefit the game
