Nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Massive games coming up including Luton away and Plymouth at home.
Two 'six-pointers' that will either see us become 'mid-table' or drag us back into the relegation battle.

Cockney term not name specific - well at least it was in the happy days of the seventies :)

Pompey has given you a reason to live hence Southampton who are my lot have not given me a reason to live quite the opposite.

Instead of Bloody Hell it used to be Blimey Charlie.

Hopefully now some clarity reigns supreme .

Monday morning blue skies sun here for the day along with a temp of 28C far distant to the vast numbers emptying St Mary's early on what now seems to be a regular basis.

    Cheers<ale>

Pompey's (and Murphy's) five minute 'purple patch' was the difference between the sides.
As Devon points out, a couple more 'should wins' turning into three points will relieve a lot of the remaining tension.

I understand now. But I'd say living in Australia is reason enough to live no doubt, even despite Southampton's best efforts

Weathers good - been here since 1977 - still only a permanent resident as born English will die the same - I go home every 2 years and the slow decline
has saddened me somewhat - the mood is sombre amongst my family and friends - maybe there is somewhat an element of truth in what Enoch Powell said multi-culturism cannot and will not work but even he couldn't imagine what has happened with the level of influx of foreign nationals - is my perception wrong ??
Who knows but that can't be the problem with SFC more likely SR - to cheer you up its cloudy today with showers top of 23C - Cheers

I came to Australia in 1973 - one of the last ten pounders - and am still only a permanent resident!
Multi-culturism is difficult but unavoidable. I think England suffers because a delusional minority think it is reversable which detracts from a determination to make it work.
It has to work in Australia because it is an immigrant country. It has had the advantage of largely being able to be more selective with regards to immigrants.- never-the-less there are still problems.
Having said that at a personal level i live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney which is something of an 'Anglo enclave' and try to return to Worthing in Sussex each year to see such family as remains. Worthing is also a town less effected by immigration than most in England so perhaps my views are less developed by personal experience than those of most.
Anyway, what's this got to do with football???

Northern beaches of Sydney you say? My brother used to live in Waverton which is in north Sydney. Visited Australia a couple of times and stayed with him. We went to the Blue Mountains on a day trip (my mum and I), we also visited Bondi Beach, and we had a weekend trip away on a wine tasting tour in some wine country outside of Sydney. Another time we went on a boat trip where we sailed around some rivers and stuff. I couldn't tell you the names of any of these places as it was over 20 years ago and I was a kid, but my brother might know. While in Sydney we went to the botanical gardens and did a Sydney harbour boat tour from Circular Quay. All in all, they were fun trips.

As for multiculturalism, I think for the most part the issue is that, stoked by the media and certain politicians, people have a tendency to judge an entire population by the actions of one or some low number of people which leads to dehumanizing of the 'other'. Having worked in some very multicultural places of work, I think most people are okay regardless of race of ethnicity and whatever race or religion someone is doesn't inherently make them any more or less likely to be a terrible person for the most case. You can be a dick whether you're white, black, Muslim or Christian or anything in between. Also it doesn't help that there's a lot of hyperbole and misinformation on things like social media. Stuff like you can't fly an England flag outside of football tournaments, Muslims are offended by the word Christmas, etc.

Unfortunately humans are inherently tribalistic so it's a difficult thing to change. I try not to be though, hence why I have nothing against Southampton really. I have a bit of banter and it's amusing to see them do badly but it's good natured. Likewise when I go to a football game, I have nothing against the opposition and I'm not gonna call someone a ****er just due to an accident of birth that meant they were born somewhere else. For me it's more about supporting a team that represents the place I'm from, that represents my home. Rather than hating some opponent.
