A good win by the sounds of it!! I feel PFC will beat Wigan as well. The damage to.our promotion was done in September and October, so we had far too much ground to recover. Stiil, we will.play a big role next Saturday.
I know some fans are highly critical.of the Cowleys. OK, they have made mistakes, but who hasn't in their career. For me, they mérit a second full.season.
Pompey fielded a good side , played attractive football, and got a result. can't ask for more than that! If they can play similar football against two better sides in their last two fixtures it would give some basis for believing that the framework for next season's team is currently onboard - although clearly some additions will be needed. The alternative is wholesale changes. I agree with Ides that the Cowley's should be retained. The football has been more attractive than under Jackett and a similar position in the league has been attained with, I get the impression, more financial restraint than Jackett suffered. Of course the shape of next seasons team may be shaped more by the negotiation of contracts that are affordable than by the players we would like to keep.
I have watched the video interview on Eric Eisner and Andy Redman this morning, and they talk a lot of sense about their future plans for PFC, in respect of the stadium, playing staff, academy, and a new Director of Football to be interviewed and hopefully appointed. We have the basis of a decent squad of players. A few good quality new signings, a few unwanted players departing, and we could well look forward to an exciting season to come in August.
