I was always a fan of Leadbitter. He was hampered by playing alongside Norris, who seemed to gather more fan support for simply running around a lot, when Leadbitter was by far most technically gifted of the two and often had to cover for when Norris was out of position. In fact I would expect him to have excelled in this team and would have done the Skuse role to far greater effect in the centre of the park (as he has proven at boro)
McAuley, Delonkey and Leadboots are and were decent players imo. Better than the **** our current clueless manager has!!
An interesting article on TWTD - http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-...arke-deal-set-to-be-confirmed-early-next-week Simply for the paragraph: "We also understand the fee that the Blues will pay Pompey - in addition to 19-year-old Clarke moving to Fratton Park - is significantly higher than the £500,000 previously reported." Significantly higher than £500,000? How much higher? Whatever it is, it's more than we've spent in the last 4 years combined
Good pedigree signing although shame to lose a promising academy player as part of the deal and not a position we really need to improve in
I would argue, we need a ball playing defender to get the ball into midfield more. Although it's clear as day the instructions from Mick don't allow the current defence to do a lot, Smith and Chambers in particular are very poor distribution wise, and were they allowed to do more I think we'd be on the backfoot more. In theory, this could help Skuse do more. Good signing on paper.
