I think Mick felt pretty let down by the players last night, especially on that 1st half performance. I understand the team selection though as we have important players starting to feel the effects of playing so many games and with important games coming up. My only criticism is we could've had a stronger bench. It was a better 2nd half and the red card was harsh. Also Pompey just wanted it more.
Okay a few rants on here, some saying we should have played a stronger side, okay. However, it's been often stated the likes of Emmanuel / Kenlock/ Bart are good enough. Oar got his chance, Niles again. Hyam not fully fit, needed the minutes. I don't see what McCarthy has done wrong here - he's given players the opportunity to show they are good enough and from what I heard on the radio, the only player who stepped up was Emmanuel. While I'd always like us to win, is the cup a priority? Not really. Bring on the Brum.
Westy, agree but mix it up a bit, dont sling them all in together and then when it doesnt work, take credit because you think this has proved that you are playing the strongest team and getting it right in the league, typical MM arrogance!! To be honest, sounds like Emmanuel and Bart played well, which are the two, people would like to see more of!!
Hard to be too annoyed but would have preferred to see a stronger bench. A team with a spine of players who barely have any first team minutes or coming back from injury were hardly likly to be able to compete for 90. Keep in touch and bring on the cavalry with 15 to go. Cup isn't a priority but can't beat the feel good glow of a cup run.
Mick has done a great job here but by god despite doing well he doesn't half suck the enjoyment out of football sometimes!!!
