It's hard to say. How many times do our own fans need to count us out before they realise that Watford don't give up! We have young players coming through....and we've lost Graham but we still have a backbone of experienced players too. If the goals come...then there's no reason why we can't do well. I can't see the defence doing worse...it's going to be a more experienced line up with some new faces perhaps.....
Sorry, I haven't voted as in a very much wait-and-see category!! If Malky stays and then we pick up a few permanent players (ideally left back, left wing and striker) and a couple of loaness, then confident we will be comfortably mid-table, with a flirt towards the top 8, but with also a few bad runs then push us back down! If Malky goes and we have to reply on youngsters, then it is all about the first 10 games. If we don't have many points, we will be in the bottom 5 all season.
OLM has hit the nail on the head - I looked back over the last 3 years last night and can see we've been tipped for relegation 2 years running and here we are having a fire sale! It is clear next year's budget will be cut, and it was already small. It is all down to Malky - he must stand up to Baz the clown and get the support he needs in a difficult job. If Malky performs miracles again next season, I can reluctantly accept his departure to a top side in 12 month's time. As for the voting categories - our fortunes will be led by our start. We need to be "at the races" on day 1, a good start is imperative.
Losing or drawing day one wouldn't necessarily be a disaster (for all we know it'll be Elland Road or whatever stadium Cardiff now play in). But since 2007 we've always have a decent August and September. That has to happen again. Also Elixir, the big difference is that in the last two seasons the departures had been expected, with the sole exception of Mike Williamson (and even that wasn't really a pressing issue until DeMerit blinded himself). By contrast, nobody expected Buckley to go leave, I'm sure even Malky expected Danny to go for more than he has, and by the sounds of it the sales aren't yet over. Will Malky have pre-planned for the potential departure of someone like Loach, Eustace or Cowie?
OK - fair enough - then my real feeling is not on there as I don't think we will challenge for the play offs but I am not despondent feeling we will have a bad season - maybe you deliberately kept the middle ground option absent - but for me it is a mid table finish again which in the circumstances would make me quite happy. With a gun to my head choosing from your 4 I would go for "despondent"
Aren't we a confident bunch. I would be surprised if we manage as good a season as this last, but I live in hope. A couple of cup wins would be good as well, against decent oposition.
And it is not just where we finish in the table that will determine if we feel we have had a "good season". If we survive, yes. But also if we continue to play good football, if we have some memorable matches(wins) against fancied teams, if we have a little cup run, if some new young players make the breakthrough or older ones have an outstanding season---that would make a good season. And if Mr B surprises us by proving to be an inspirational, shrewd and generous owner--that would be a very good season. Oh no! I am joining the cuckoos!
I want to change my vote ,I am now despondant and yes we will be in a scrap not only against relegation ,but a fight for survival! Bassini out!
I wanna move from playoffs to the optimistic position of mortified. Watford to move from the vic to Borehamwood and be renamed Bassini Rangers, I will not be supporting...
Where is your half full glass Aberdeenhornet! I too will drop down a notch today But as an ever optomistic fan - tomorrows another day & maybe when Malky is back from his hols our buys will be finalised - D Day will be the first week of July which is traditionaly when annual contracts come to an end.
Nobodys topped it up and I was thirsty so drinking for some good news it seems to be nearly empty!!!!
Malky must be wishing he had never gone on holiday! In his first week away he reads the paper and finds he has no team , no CEO.......!!! Do not take another week Malky!
