Just for the record, if anybody has a differing opinion to me on matters appertaining to QPR players, I shall respect you and your opinion and certainly shall not be labelling you a **** fan. I feel better for having cleared that up.
Not an easy choice cause I'd like to see them both together, one driving the other on, well Austin doing the driving obviously
Good for you. In general i'll be doing likewise- but with regards to clamouring for our talismans to be replaced; certainly not.
I'm not so sure that there was a clamour to replace him - I think your fellow fans gave honest opinions about the two in the PL. From my point of view, if it was down to the simple choice of one or the other in the PL, but not both, then it would have to be the PL-proven one as opposed to the other, But that's not to say that Austin won't step up - I hope he does. Frankly, I'd love to be able to keep both, but I suspect Remy will be off. To be left with Austin is fine with me, though. But like I said, both are only as good as the service they receive.
47% is a clamour in my books. I wonder what the dividing line between the two camps is? Obviously there'll be exceptions, but I'd expect that the "Remys" in general don't get to as many games as the "Austins". If you're regularly watching these people perform in the flesh, you naturally build up an affection for certain players who've done well for the club. For the others i imagine it's a bit like fantasy football, where it's always just a matter of sticking who's best on paper in the side (the sort of Man Utd fan mindset). I was hoping the majority of the comments would be along the lines of, "Remy's a fantastic player, but Charlie's our boy, and he's earned his chance". The guy pretty much got us promoted single handedly this season. Demoting him for a mercenary would be the equivalent of turfing Taarabt out for Lampard after our 10/11 season.
But does that make the 47% '**** fans', or just people that based their decision on different criteria to you? I'm not looking for an argument, Grift, I just think it unfair to use such an emotive phrase as '**** fans' on the basis of a difference in opinion.
I voted for Charlie; but surely the point is all EPL clubs have numerous forwards, probably in the region of 4, or thereabouts. So why does it have to be Remy or Charlie; surely we need both, and with Bobby as backup, then surely we also need HH mk2 as well. Now that would be a group of forwards that would have sufficient goals in them to keep us up, and then some !!
You think Remy is a Rangers player? Where was he last year then??? What bollocks. Charlie has more allegiance to this club in his little finger than Remy had in his entire body.
Certain sets of fans "basing their decisions on different criteria" is just a diplomatic way of expressing what I said in 'terrace speak'. Some fans choose to follow a club for the hooliganism, some fans choose to follow a club because the victories give them bragging rights. Those sets of criteria do indeed make them **** fans. I'm just adding to a debate Uber, no argument intended. It's definitely an emotive issue though: the idea of bombing-out our standout player last season; the hero of many young R's fans, a thoroughly good bloke, and fantastic player. What happens when Remy does well with us and starts to build up a rapport with the support? Do we just demote him as soon as someone 'better' become available too? If that's the case, then I can only say that pundits who describe as us "everything wrong with football", have got us absolutely spot on.
This. The allegiance is far more appealing than the proven ability. Sure Remy is the more accomplished finisher but Charlie is one who will play for the badge & with pride. Can anyone honestly say the same about Remy. It's just rewards for Charlie after his contribution last season.
I am one of those **** overseas fans mind you would rather be called **** than likened to a man utd fan of course "Remy's a fantastic player, but Charlie's our boy, and he's earned his chance". but the plan I assume is to stay in the premiership and it is a lot more likely if the proven scorer is leading but what do I know I only saw a few games on TV this season so I still dislike barton most on here would take lampard over tab rat wish I had put that third option
Hope that goes for all the other who left then like Adel, & joey? a simple thread has become ridiculous with claims of going to the match makes you better, 47% are s88t fans. how can a simple poll become such bolloks? i didnt vote as im obviously a **** fan
I'm not saying overseas fans are s**t fans, I'm saying fans who want to bomb out this man are s**t fans: please log in to view this image And to be honest I'm happy to stand by that, whether it makes me unpopular or not. It was a general statement, suggesting there's probably an over-representation of fans who don't make many games in the "Remys" group. I hadn't even thought of overseas fans to be honest, I was thinking of British QPR fans who just decide not to attend for whatever reason. The likes of your "Man Utd supporting" mates who rarely watch their team. That's no sleight upon the likes of queenie/kiwi who're obviously passionate blokes who're simply unable to attend as much as they'd like because of location
It seems like we have the old classic game of naked twister here... my apologies I meant 'stick or twist.' I can see both sides of the argument for either or. I voted for Charlie myself ( but what do I know?) it's a tough one. Harry gets paid a few million quid a season to pick the right team, although I don't really think that Remy is going to be around as he doesn't want to play for us, so it will render this argument moot in any case. So although I think Grif is right in his summary of Remy, I think he was wrong to use the expression of R's fans in the way he did. But I can understand what he means. As Ube's said it's all about opinions. No need to get shirty if they differ from your own.
Fair enough nines! I think I've said my piece now anyway, so unless there's any further offence that ends up needing assuaging- i'll back out of this thread for now. As ever, it's a good debate
I don't think you offended anyone directly Grif. I nearly responded to your comment earlier but retracted it as I had to take my daughter to guides. The subsequent comments made me glad that I did as I don't think that your comment was aimed at any of our fans in particular but on the glory hunter type as a whole. We don't have too many of them on here..yet. As I said earlier, it's a really tough call and one that can only be realised in hindsight. Well done for sticking around and responding to the responses to your post in a civil manner though. It made for interesting reading and was quite thought provoking whichever stance you took initially. Fair play to you mate and also to everyone who responded. Good thread.
SEEING AS HOW REMY IS ONLY A MERCENARY MONEYGRABBER maybe an enhanced contract could see him here longer than some think
