I feel a little bit sorry for CR. He walked into the role and was on a hiding to nothing. I just hope his reputation isn't damaged permanently, but for a side NEEDING to be in the PL due to our expansion plans, we need a proven manager at this level.

I'm sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer. 3 years, ideally at least, with a manager that is taking things forward and hitting agreed and realistic targets. This is football, of course they'll be sacked if they aren't delivering. Point I was trying to make is that this is a long term task, we need to recognise that, but the owners even more so. Worst trap we can fall into is to buy a team to try and grind out promotion next season, succeed, replace them next summer with another bunch of 'not quite good enoughs'. I think continuity on the playing side is important, if you have decent quality overall. Both Ferguson and Wenger said you shouldn't add more than 3 players to your team in a season. We, of course, will need to change a lot more than that this summer, but need to start calming it down. It would be nice to recruit with a style of play in mind.

I get what your saying shefford but clearly the prem is sadly not going to be our level for a while now. Mind you some could argue that the Championship is not CR's level ether, who knows, we will just have to wait and see.

Yes from me. I've said most of my reasons before but Tramore has covered a lot of them (more succinctly than me.

The only things I'll add are the midfield crisis that we had during some key games and the improvement we've seen in some players (Phillips and the emergence of Furlong for example).

This with no pre-season to coach in his own ideas or any real time to influence beyond preparation and motivation (which he's done well at IMO).

I've gone with a no because there's a slim chance W Ham will sack Toad face & we might be able to entice him here. He'd be our best chance at hacking us back up out of the Championsh*t.

Looked way out of depth of late. Clean sweep, Manager and players.
He will get the job though as he's the cheap option for TF.

I want the best for my club, that means a manager with proven success at putting in place a system whereby the club improves from top to bottom playing the right way with players who will be assets rather than liabilities to the club.

On that basis my answer to the OP is no. We need to sign up Mark Warburton to lead us forward with the Moneyball system...

So we need to spunk £3 million a year on Big Sam just so you're not inconvenienced by us not being on the telly...:headbang:

This is getting interesting, the nays slightly ahead.... so weighing up the options that have been suggested....

    Ramsey
    Warburton
    Clement
    Allardyce

We know that Ramsey is the cheapest option as he is already in sittu
Warburton would be a good choice and wouldn't cost the earth, but can we even afford that cost?
Clement for sentimental reasons, another good coach but is he ready for management and can we afford him?
Allardyce, not for the purists, hard as nails and will take no prisoners, but again can the club afford him?

    Any other suggestions?

Get back to working out who I should vote for. I may fancy an early visit to the Polling Station tomorrow.

I thought Warburton was leaving the B's because they were adopting a similar regime to that we already have in place, i.e. a director of football.

    Nope.
Although, we really don't know what all the circumstances will be next season, so a straight forward yes or no is very difficult imo.

I'm with you. I can't make up my mind. I'm leaning towards no though due to his negative team selections in must-win games.
