Ronaldo easily. Proved he can do it in this league, couldn't see Messi on a wet monday night away at Stoke performing as good. Also Messi is proven as a worse player in a lesser team which is why he is one of the most hated men in Argentina and has only ever played club football with Xavi, Iniesta, Villa etc. Oh and Messi has proven each time he's played away against English teams he can't handle it

I don't like Messi or Ronaldo, so i'd have neither. I'm picking the best current player from my favourite team.

I'd say he should be 99 for dribbling, then whoever is second best on the game around 89, Messi is just that good.

It would be interesting to see how Messi would handle the Premiership, if he did well I'd rather have him than Ronaldo, but I'll happily take either <diva>

Yup, the only reason Argentina went out was because Maradona dropped Veron for some inexplicable reason and decided to play 1 central midfield against Germany who had Schweinsteiger, Khedira and Ozil, two of which were Germany's most influential players throughout the tournament. The thing with Messi is he is a great finisher, just like Ronaldo, but he can also dictate the tempo of play and create chances for the rest of his team if he wants.

I don't even see how people can have this argument after how Messi has outshone Ronaldo for the last 2 years in La Liga and the champions league. Messi will be mentioned among the likes of Cruyff, Maradona and Pele when he retires. Ronaldo won't.

You do know that the Premier League is not the be all and end all of football, yeah?

Ronaldo has proven he is worse player in a lesser team..Portugal as well.

Yes as Ronaldo hasn't only played in top teams <doh>

Messi plays a different role for Argentina, people just look at his goalscoring stats, but he plays supplier not goalscorer, he spends most of the time picking up the ball on the halfway line and he can't be expected to beat 6 men every game for every goal. And he's scored against Man United in 2 Champions League finals, including 1 in which Ronaldo was non existent. Just like he was against Barca last season. Also love the wet Monday night at Stoke arguments. Wet? Anyone ever seen Spanish rain, i've seen Messi playing in puddles! Stoke? Because they're physical, he gets the crap kicked out of him every game and just gets up and carries on, he scores against Man United and Arsenal, why would Stoke be such a challenge?

Messi has grew and developed in and around Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol etc. Ronaldo came to England and killed it, went to spain and killed it some more, if he was with a set group of players like Messi it would be insane.

i knew it was coming. Doesn't really bother me. Why keep a player who's heart is elsewhere.

Also, never get why Messi isn't as good just because he is loyal to Barca? He isn't playing in the Premiership because he is playing for a club he loves which is the best club side ever. Why would anyone leave?

So you'd have Odemwingie over Aguero?

That's not very true is it? When he broke into the team he was playing with Deco and Ronaldinho. He's played with loads of different strikers for Barca. He played succesfully with Deco, Eto'o, Henry and Ronaldinho, then when Guardiola came in and changed things and used Xavi, Iniesta, Alves, Pedro and Villa he adapted and got even better.
