In one sense yes, I do agree Strolls. However, when you reckon in the fact that this is a QPR Board and the performances of both are only going to be evaluated whilst they played for us alone, then I think its not as straightforward as it might first appear. I didn't and I outlined my reasons why. I think Cesar played okay for us last season, no more no less. Very little to choose between them when you base the evidence solely on QPR performances.
I voted for for Green as you have to pick the person to do the best job, cesser doesn't care, Green does, so Green is best
That's what I mean about people deriving two different meanings from the question Kiwi asked. He's fitted us all right up with this one.
That's an excellent post. It summarises the reason I didn't post on this thread until now. Perhaps Kiwi should of asked.. 'Who has been the better keeper for QPR?'
Absolutely. Green was a good signing, competant at Premiership level, outstanding at Championship level. Cesar is significantly better but a ridiculously indulgent signing. Said so at the time.
Cesar was a better keeper and has achieved more in his career but as he has hardly played for a year and won't put his body on the line anymore, which you need to do as a keeper, Green is now the better Keeper, one is playing the other isn't. Green will struggle to be picked for England as he plays in the Championship but as punters have deemed to even mention him in the same breath speaks volumes.
Yes indeed, Rob Green wins hands down on that one - some rather fickle folks here seem to think that the grass is always greener on the other side of the mountain? Cesar is a good shot stopper, but doesn't command his area like Green does. I would add that in the Man Utd v Sunderland game yesterday, Mannone was outstanding.
If the question was as 9'sey put it the Green would probably be most peoples choice as this season he has been outstanding, he commands the area, dominates the 6 yard box, gives the back 4 confidence, does not get rooted to his line when crosses fly into the box left right & centre.....he is everything that a goalkeeper should be in this division....... So does the question need re-phrasing?
I've always fought Rob Green's corner on this forum, and I have no reason to change my mind so far this season.
Yeah partly that and partly that people are trying to compare a keeper who's won numerous Serie A titles and just last week got the Golden Gloves award...against a keeper who has won nothing at all and cant even make a very poor England squad. It really is "quite ammusing & quite ludicrous" watching people back Green against Cesar, just because he cares.......I care bout QPR loads more than Adel..does that make me a better player?.....ridiculous. Maybe Cesar should take his golden gloves trophy and maybe the confed cup...ALL WON THIS SEASON into work with him & let "Robbie" see what he has to achieve. I agree that Green cares more and is probably the better pick for our team ATM, but as my sig says, that does not make him the better keeper. Over to you to prove me wrong.....!! PS I can imagine our fellow posters at Leicester, Leeds, Burnley etc are pi**ing themselves at this....
Cesar is the more talented keeper but talent isn't worth very much on its own. Goalkeeping is about a lot more than shot-stopping so, for me, Green is the superior goalkeeper overall, at least while playing in this country. Cesar lacks bravery and can't/won't communicate adequately with his defence. Green, for his (perceived?) flaws, is excellent in the air and communicates very well.
Best keeper according to the question is Cesar. But as others have said earlier I'd prefer to have Green between the sticks than Cesar . If Cesar really wanted to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans all he had to do was agree to a contract change and make a charitable gesture. I'm delighted that Green has done well this season as I don't feel Cesar deserves to even be second choice keeper.
Why? No body else did as far as I am aware so I dont really se why he should? i know there is a load of guess work about wages etc, but remember he was up for MOM nearly every game in our first Prem season. And he also had that calamity of a back 4 in front of him. Why not let him play behing our current back four including Dunne, BAE, Ned and Simpson, and our current midfield, then judge him? Im sure he'd prove to be better than most think. Im not sure what Harry's issue is with him, but you cant believe a word Harry says anyway so I'm not going to speculate. Just as a thought, If your company employed some incompetant workers and your companies value went down due to lack of sales or what ever, would you expect to change your contract of Employment and donate to charity?..Anyone ?
now now swordsie the question is not loaded who is the best keeper on our books the one who no one wanted last season or the one we wont play in the hope he pisses off regardless of his ability or the other geezer
