The thing is to me this isn't a Labour v Tories thing. We have to do something about it. But we 100% don't need to go about it by the hatred that is being stirred up and by arguing over flags.
Someone out there needs to stop points scoring against other parties, stop blaming Brexshit (we know it caused it) and sort out a solution. We are where we are now let's sort it out.

The way you fix it does not involves cancelling foreign aid. Making countries better to be in is the best way to discourage movement like this.

As Sante pointed out progress is being made that should be well up in media reporting. The government needs to ram it down the throats of the tories and reformers with their endless mis/disinformation bollocks.
Quick reality check though; 40 years of fundamentalist libertarian economics, embraced under Margaret Thatcher, ameliorated slightly but never reversed by Tony Blair, followed by 14 years of deliberate Tory austerity, has devastated communities throught the UK, and left our public dervices in ruins. By and large, it's people in the hardest hit communities who are now backing Farage's band of racists and free market, casino capitalism chancers. And what does Farage have to offer the people of Doncaster, Derby and Durham? Thatchersism on steroids, and an extra helping of the xenophobic nonsense which brought us Brexit. It may not be a Labour versus Tory thing, but only because the Tories have now been eaten by Reform. The worst thing Labour can do, meanwhile, is to get dragged into fighting tge next election on Farage's territory. If this current government, who are currently the only adults in the Westminster room, can't address the widening inequality and endemic failure causing real pain to millions of Britons, we are all ****ed, because look what's waiting in the wings.

Certainly are. There so much mis and dis-information over this. Having asylum seekers in former hotels is a Tory policy and problem that's having to be dealt with by the recent incumbent Labour party. While the last Labour government (in 2002) did contribute, by pandering to the right again, in banning asylum seekers from being able to support themselves with work.
As for the bone-headed notion they're lording it up in hotels;

Your whole premise is based on the now "famous" Dublin protocol which all the countries of the EU have been picking when and if to even bother with ever since the start of the migrant exodus from Syria. Doesn't matter what the rule are. reality is even if we had made a deal to remain in the Dublin protocol they would come up with another excuse to ignore it.
You are confusing me with a Tory supporter. Tory and Labour have made a mess of this. Why are they in hotels or HMOs or anything else like that and not in detention camps like Germany or maybe even like France does and leave them to rot close to the coastline? I'm not suggesting the latter btw! but why do we give asylum seekers better conditions than a lot of UK citizens get yet cannot find a space for any homeless brits to stay?
Your doing whataboutery as if you are protecting Labour against a Tory. 2 peas in the same pod. They made this mess. I would suggest the reason small boat crossings and the clamour to get to the UK from safe countries in the EU is nothing to do with Brexit and a lot to do with the spread of social media to promote that the EU will house people (if at all) in detention camps/centres while the UK will give uber conditions and give most people asylum on spurious grounds!
And if you do a bit of research a vast amount of these migrants have come from Pakistan and Albania. both safe countries and far from "Dublin protocol" blah blah we have had a deal with Albania and Pakistan since 2022! Also Nigeria, Georgia, India and more.
Plain and simple they don't deport because they don't want to and the courts / lawyers fight every single one to the death with judges siding with them most of the time. The recent vocal spiel about the Dublin protocol is purely anti Brexit theatre. We don't hear anyone piping up "why are we not using the deals we made with these countries in 2022?
The only valid part of the whole lot that does not try to go on about a protocol no-one uses as a Brexit bashing tool is that the French stopped intercepting the small amount of boats that were crossing. The rest is using whatever is convenient to blame Brexit.
The whole thing escalated because the UK is a soft touch and the EU that bangs on about rights and humanity leaves illegal migrants to either fend for themselves or locks them up in processing camps!

The problem is they are blaming Brexit for it when the Brexit part they talk about was not being enforced by EU countries themselves and also ignoring totally that UK has deals in place that they made in 2022 before Rwanda was even announced to return illegal immigrants to many of the countries they are coming from.
People keep on loving up the EU and bashing the UK in their obsession with "Brexit is bad" to the point they ignore the EUs stagnation, the EUs treatment of "asylum seekers" which is to say the least a lot harsher than ours. One of the key elements of the remain lot was "rights" right through and ever since the vote which is laughable!
Its not far back in this thread that non Tories were holding up James Cleverley as being the ideal candidate............the same James Cleverley who is proudly boasting of stopping an RAF base being used to house migrants! One of the biggest NIMBYs out there and unused military camps are surely the best option and not HMOs or Hotels! Clean these Military camps up, sort out some basic infrastructure, shops, free food canteens etc. Even schools for the very few children that are coming over and Bingo.
Not this continuation of UK governments using all sorts of avenues to pay over the odds to big business hiding behind the "we are being nice" jargon when the last 3 decades has shown it is clear that they are constantly using supposedly decent policies to push money up to the rich and the corporates.

Your original states "most pakastanis arrive legallly." I never said they didn't. Most arriving legally does not mean that they are not one of the highest illegal entries as well though!

There are many Pakistanis coming to the UK but they arrive on visas via regular routes, while many do claim asylum, Pakistan is not on the UK's "Safe Countries" list (as you claim). There is a robust returns and information sharing agreement (2022) between the UK and Pakistan.
The AI answer you provided, pulls Pakistanis in small boats crossing figures straight out it's digital backside. There really is no need for Pakistanis to cross in large numbers as they can acquire (its not easy but they can) UK visas unlike many other nationalities.
