I’m seeing reports of comments, from Farage, that are similar to the ones he made prior to the Southport riots last summer.
I really don’t understand why Starmer doesn’t call a press conference to explain to the people how leaving the EU has triggered the upsurge in asylum seekers coming to the country.
I am sure that the majority of the people don’t know about the Dublin Protocol, the agreement that allows EU countries to return asylum seekers to the EU country they first sought asylum in.
Starmer, and his ministers, need to be educating the population that Farage was the driving force behind Brexit and as a result of that, and the Tories not negotiating a return policy in the Brexit deal, he is responsible for the increasing numbers and our inability to return them as before.
Labour needs to be raising this point in every single interview about asylum seekers.
A simple “Farage is responsible for this” message needs to be inserted into every conversation. Just as Farage gets people to believe his lies as a result of repetition, Labour needs to do the same with the truth.

I totally agree but also feel Labour should also attack Farage for his lack of work as a constituent MP . I think he may lose his seat.
I don't think his supporters care about his constituency work, or lack of, and the British are apathetic enough not to get organised to cause a recall so I don't see him either losing his seat or being removed
Preaching to the converted in the main on here ST. Pointing out the negative effects of brexshit on immigration to those deride any criticism as remoaning has little or no effect.
Brexit defenders are totally ideological about it, when they claim to be pragmatic realists. The pragmatic realism is being part of a larger economic block makes you richer.
Yeah I know, but I just don’t understand why Labour stands back and don’t spell it out to the hard of thinking that this problem wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the actions of Farage and the inaction of the Tories.
They don’t think twice about throwing the kitchen sink at anyone in their own party who dares disagree with the leadership.
My one big hope for the “new party” is that Labour loses enough MPs to it that they can put pressure on Starmer to at least follow the membership’s wish to change the voting system to PR. That alone will stop the lopsided majorities that keep on happening and, if voting patterns continue as in previous years, always give us a left of centre coalition government.

The true numbers? 96% of immigrants are here legally and 4% are here illegally, but it is 4% if you include those arriving by boats who, if I am not mistaken, are only illegal if their asylum claim is rejected. They make up 86% of that 4%.
The video includes a clip with Farage mentioning that “sometimes you sell ideas, sometimes hope and sometimes fear”. I think he is stuck on the last bit of that statement.
Video is about 19 minutes if you’re interested and also includes a brief expose of how a headline can give one message and the report another, in reference to private school closures.

Lot of water to pass under the bridge before the next GE which will be held no later than Tuesday 21 August 2029. I'd like to see a return to a fixed term government. Could well be a hung parliament in which case I'd be hoping for PR to be high on the agenda.
The most stupid thing they did was make that promise. Governments must have capacity to tax as required.
And it's the sort of promise that no one will forget.
I would rather they broke a promise and governed properly, but then I think adversarial politics is a really stupid approach.
The next election will be a milestone as I see it being the point after which all future will be coalitions.
My prediction is :-
1. No overall majority for any party.
2. Starmer will not stand for reelection following a revolt within Labour.
3. Labour to form coalition government with Greens and Liberals.
4. Conservatives to finish a poor third behind Reform.
5. Farage loses his seat
6. I think thst Starmer will ostracise Corbyn's new party. They will not be invited into any coalition.
