Not sure that I fully understand but if the profit has been made as the result of a loan then maybe the profit should be used to pay off the loan, before being given to shareholders.I see where you are coming from, but that would never work in practice. Some debt (loans, mortgage, etc) enable you to make a profit if you see what I mean.

As I understand it, a lot of businesses borrow money to avoid paying taxes and iirc that is how Musk bought Twitter. He borrowed against his Tesla shares to avoid paying taxes had he sold them to fund the deal.
Disappointed by the allegations against Len McClusky. I am not sure why a union should be building a hotel with it's members money but the scale of the loss is staggering. On top of this, the hospitality he received from the contractor is shocking but I think will prove to be small beer in the scheme of things if the BBC investigation is correct.
How did they deal with private energy companies when they originally consolidated them into "gas boards" in the last century? Di they compensate anyone? or just take them into public ownership? The cost. Shareholders would have to be compensated, and that would run into billions. Then the government would have to either take on on the debt, or deal with the creditors. Water privatisation was a disaster, a crime against the public really, but taking the industry back into public ownership would mean bailing out the thieves at a cost to the public purse. So the Cunliffe report aims to make these faiuling firms clear up their own mess, albeit ultimately at our expense.
Would have to be allowances or you create more monopolies as new entrants to the market need to attract investment which unfortunately requires returns form virtually the start while the business is gonna be in loss for a long time early years.I have said before that if a company is carrying debt then it should never be allowed to pay shares dividends, until after the debt has been cleared.

Ankle deep in intellect with an even shallower depth of knowledge and reality.I think it's fair to say that this Aussie gent has a few reservations about green energy. Puts his points across very well I think, as only an Aussie could.
I'm guessing that's his son looking on proudly, lost for words.

Behave like hooligans, get treated as hooligans irrespective of religion or race. TwaXter and the other social media disgraces' will be full of hate from both directions.50 Jewish school children and their group leader, a 21 year old summer camp leader, ejected from a Spanish flight as a result of their behaviour. Unsurprisingly the word antisemitism has been raised.
It doesn’t say if there were other adults in the group, but it strikes me as being odd if the 21 year old was the only one.
The group were French students (called children in the report) returning to Paris from Valencia.

I'd be on the streets in Scotland if circumstances allowed, Private Eye placards in hand.Even better the White House officially responded to this, basically ensuring they will go after him even harder.
Best thing they could have done was ignore it, but the egos can't handle it.
