Well yeah, it’s all about perspectives. If you consider any of those titles I listed as anything other than far right propagandists, then you are quite a long way to the right yourself, at least from where I’m standing.

And as you say, that shows the problem; the world wide drift to the right is making extremism appear respectable, worryingly for those of us who mourn the loss of the old post war social consensus (the one Margaret Thatcher tore up).

I get the argument about Right Wing action and freedom of speach but i think that the Right are too dangerous and provocative.

Supporting Palestine isnt a matter of being Right or Left. It is about being a compassionate human. Wanting to stop British military against another country is surely a good thing?

I get pissed off with the polarisation of issues to left and right rather than being judged on their merits.

I think what this group did was criminal, but classifying them as terrorists seems a stretch. Anybody who breaks into an army or RAF base should definitely face a prison term.

And there is no left in the UK. The centre sits centre right. The left sits in the centre. So the idea that any group is called ‘far’ left or right can only ever be in comparison to that starting point. Taxing the rich, green energy, investing in free education are all fairly central policies in Europe but considered ‘leftist’ here. What is this extreme left? Pacifists? People who think colour, religion and ethnic origin don’t deserve to be linked to your value? People who spray paint on statues? Vegans?


This is a weird country. Swaddled in the bounty of a socialist post-war legacy, yet told by a militantly wealthy media owning class that anything that benefits the poor at the expense of the rich is EVIL!!!

Sorry, but the only way people can make themselves feel good about hating on ‘leftists’ is by coming back to identity politics and easily disproven lies about green energy. Duuurrrrrrr.

That is a one sided view. military is actually more about defence than attack! hence it is called the defence budget. So while you approve of "stopping us attacking other countries" you forget (or support) stopping us being able to defend ourselves!

Not "you get two weeks" but "within two weeks". And he's done what he said.

Trump is a horrible individual and he probably is all the things that people accuse him of. But trying to make an issue of this, how orange he is or whether his phone is made in the US and the other meaningless, juvenile* criticisms made on here everyday trivialises the seriousness of his presidency. Issues don't come much bigger than bombing a foreign country. The implications to us and other countries could be enormous, I think there is more to worry about than how often he is on the golf course etc. that seems to obsess our intrepid reporters.

*That's not aimed at you by the way but, in this case, I think you are wrong.

I never claimed they were significant, I stated they exist.

You said there were "no left in the UK" if what you meant is they're fringe lunatics who'd never win an election, well that's different. Doesn't mean they're short of numbers though

I think thats a separate thing to the issue at question. If someone handed you a placard with an EDL or BNP logo on it that said "Stop the War" would you gladly accept it? I'm pretty sure that would be an instant media target as well.

These people are supposedly the "educated", the "informed" folks but somehow they can't read the letters SWP nor know what SWP is all about?

Them coming out on the streets to protest thing....fine, no problem. Accepting a "branded" placard uknowingly (or knowingly, might I suggest ;) ) promoting a far left political party/movement is just brushed off?
