You bet your arse it's the politics of envy. 60 houses is pure unadulterated greed. You say they're providing a valuable service, I say they're massively pushing up house prices and preventing the likes of me ever being able to afford one because I'm paying people like them their mortgages instead.

I'd say housing is where my politics are most socialist to be honest. Landlords are not and will never be a service.
Local Authority Landlords are a service
Southampton is a good example
Given the challenges thrown at them by Right to Buy and other Gov meddling

No; definitely not. They completely lied to everyone. About almost everything.

Their manifesto was a complete fabrication. They’re spending 10x more than they promised. It’s absurd this is even legal. The lies are worse than the Tories in previous years.

Blaming the Tories is already getting old. Soon they will have to be accountable for the disaster that they are creating.

280 employees.

As I understand this thread, Os posts something knee jerk unfounded, the rest of the page de bunks it and then Os either retracts it or gaslights everyone and then Os posts something else knee jerk and unfounded. Cycle continues.

Correct, has to be said retractions are extremely rare, derogatory insults a common retort to debunking posts.

Software developers could be paid £400 pd in the 90s

Ironic that he thinks rich people deserve their earnings except when they’re paid by a Labour gov <laugh>

This is a meagre EOY bonus for a banker

How have you reached this conclusion?

I thought the irony of a person being paid a high salary, whilst barely being able to make much impact at 1 day per week, whilst being called a Tsar for Value for Money. Just made me chuckle, quite innocent really.

But **** it, let's just make stuff up.

Do you still think im a Tory boy - or just someone who really doesnt like the way the political system fails, no matter who is in charge.

Well done you :emoticon-0148-yes:

All of this is laughable. Indefensible from labour. They have lied to the British people. This isn’t just a small deviation from their manifesto, it’s a complete reversal.

They said no tax rises. Instead they have smashed taxes higher. It will be horrific. No country has ever taxed their way to higher growth.

Also this “black hole” is a political choice. We don’t have an income problem; we have a spending problem.

The black hole would be filled by simply stopping foreign aid, after all why are we giving money to countries with space programs and nuclear weapons. This would lead to £15.4billion savings.

A conservative estimate of 1.2 million illegal migrants are costing the UK £14.4 billion

Just by two simple adjustments not a single UK tax payer would have to pay more, and business would be unhampered by this anti-growth increases.

Black hole filled with room to spare.

All of this is a political choice from a party who hate success and are determined to destroy any ounce of hope.

And don’t get me started on inheritance tax.

It should be abolished completely. The fact people want to steal wealth from people that have worked and been taxed all their lives is disgusting.

No one in this country had any sense of self responsibility any more. All they do is rely on stealing from others and sucking at the tit of daddy government.

Pathetic

No they didn't. I'm not a fan of Labour but I do know they did not say they would not increase any taxes.

15% of the extra 4.1k is £615 per employee. So yeah, that could affect a lot of businesses. It won't be adding half a mill on to any small businesses though. And any that think it will have such appalling mathematics that they were doomed anyway.
I just want to take this further. Sometimes numbers are scary. This £615 per year is the absolute maximum that is going to be added on per employee for the change in payment boundaries.

That is under £12 per week.

You then have to add on the extra 1.5% to wages above this. It is actually less of a burden than most forecasts had predicted.

I just wish people would look at the numbers themselves and stop looking at the kneejerk headlines. If you are sacking staff because you just lost £12 per week, you were in a precarious situation anyway. If you have well paid staff, you aren't looking at more than £20 per week extra per staff member.

I am not smart enough to work out how the reimbursement for small businesses that is promised works out. Would be interested to have someone explain that to me.

Literally word for word from Starmer:
“our manifesto is fully costed. We will not put taxes up on working people”

He said 1000 different versions of this.

Turns out all of their coatings were completely fabricated and they have now 10x the amount they plan to spend

Rachel Reeves was adamant: “I don’t have plans to be a big tax-raising chancellor,” she told the FT on a visit to Washington in May last year. Yet on Wednesday, the chancellor presented a Budget that will raise taxes by £40bn, the biggest single increase in a generation.

She claims that Labour discovered a “black hole” in the public finances after entering government, giving her greater freedom to go beyond manifesto promises of a smattering of small, niche tax rises on the oil and gas industry, private equity, independent schools and non-doms. In multiple areas, from national insurance to inheritance tax, the Budget broke with previous promises or assurances. Fiscal rules In November 2023, Reeves told Bloomberg that she had no intention of changing the fiscal rules governing the Treasury. Asked if she could consider using a less challenging debt target — allowing her to borrow more — she replied that she was “not going to fiddle the figures or make something to get different results”. She added: “We will use the same models the government uses.”

She was still saying the same thing weeks before the election, telling the FT in June that she would adopt the same definition of the national debt as the previous government. Yet on Wednesday the chancellor confirmed a move to target public sector net financial liabilities — or PSNFL — as a measure of the country’s debt in a move designed to free up billions of pounds for long-term investments. National insurance The Labour manifesto stated very clearly that the party “will not increase National Insurance”. In May, Reeves insisted: “We certainly won’t be increasing income tax or national insurance if we win the election.” It was only in August, after the general election, that chief secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones subtly began to change the language of that pledge. “We will have to consider some tax measures at the Budget on October 30 whilst honouring that promise to the public not to increase income tax, employee National Insurance or VAT,” Jones said, adding an “employees” caveat that was not in the manifesto.

On Wednesday, Reeves introduced a 1.2 percentage point increase to employers’ NICs to 15 per cent and cut the threshold at which employers start paying the tax from £9,100 to £5,000 from April next year. The measures will raise £25bn a year by the end of the OBR’s forecast period. Capital gains tax Early last year Reeves signalled that a Labour government would not tamper with capital gains tax.

Asked on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme in March 2023 if Labour would put up CGT, she said: “I don’t have any plans to increase capital gains tax.” “There are people who have built up their own businesses who maybe at retirement want to sell that business,” she said. “We want Britain to be the best place to start and grow a business.” Reeves announced on Wednesday that CGT for most assets — such as share sales — would rise for lower-rate taxpayers from 10 per cent to 18 per cent. CGT will increase from 20 per cent to 24 per cent for higher earners. There were some carve-outs, with the rate paid on second homes to remain at its existing levels of 18 and 24 per cent.

Tom Hunter said it best on question time yesterday.

This budget will not lead to growth. It will lead to less wage rises and redundancies as entrepreneurs can no longer make a profit.

For those taking the piss out of my friends business, your maths failed to include a few other factors. He will have to lay people off for sure.

Your insults and jokes cannot change the reality.

Well, thank god we have a government who adapts to what they see in front of them, rather than trying to keep Billy and Os happy. We would all be ****ed then.

Let's hear your marvellous manifestos and how to solve the deep **** this countries failing institutions are in.

Remoaners everywhere! WAHHHH!

I have reached the point where being insulted and lied about in every post, by a man who thinks he is clever, is getting too much.

I have given him every opportunity to support his lies, but he can't.
