Thing I would say about Brexit is that we are where we are, but unless the country thrives it will reopen.

And we definitely aren’t thriving right now.

It’s not one for the next Parliament though at least.

Waiting for the great leap forward? Accepting brexit as it stands isn't an option for me and others who want closer ties to the EU not diversification.

I agree, but there is nothing we can do in the short term about it.

The current or the next government won't change it, so we have to get on with it as it is. As I said before, make the best out of a bad situation. In adversity we can wallow or were can take adversity as an opportunity to thrive.

I strongly believe we are better off back in, but it isn't going to happen soon so we have to see what we can do to make what we have better. It isn't giving in, but merely accepting the situation we find ourselves in.

Odd take, those who wanted to remain were/are more transfixed with reversing or delegitimising the vote than coming up with a suitable brexit plan.

Not sure I follow why you believe this burden should fall upon those who were happy to maintain the status quo?

Surely the onus to create a plan should be on those fixated on insisting a new plan is needed.

Totally agree, and I think the majority of remainers have been complaining when the handball goal went in.

I think im just tired. Of it all. The constant berating, sniping, lack of constructive debate to getting out of this or that mess. Finger pointing. How about a well reasoned solution to some of this.

People say money is the route of all evil. Think Politics may be right up there, the sheer hatred it causes, has caused on this very thread.

I also agree there is no going back. We had the best seat at the table and a very profitable one, and if we get back in we are in third class dining paying first class rates.

Will there be a point, where we go our own way properly (im not even sure what that is, or what options we have), and divest production etc to other markets, more focus on the sciences, pharma etc??, or find other ways into the Eu market. I mean, they still need to sell to us also, so finding some common ground would be a start.

We left a position of respect and influence to become a sidelined bit bit player . Joining EFTA and/or the EEA would be a way forward but i understand that's not currently being considered and joining the customs union and single market has also been ruled out.

Brexit's happened. It's in the past. We left the EU. There is literally nothing we can change about that.

I'm in the tribe you still label as 'Remainers'. Odd to label me for so long over one topic but let's run with it.

So I'm now asking (as it has been implied by several posters that this is possible) what can I do practically as a 'Remainer' to make Britain, in the aftermath of Brexit, better?

Why do you often come across as very angry in your posts?

Maybe just the way I read them. Who knows, hey!

I think had Politician set the tone, cross party, around the Brexit negotiations, then we would have been in a stronger position, as a unified UK going back to the EU was a far stronger message. They played on the fact we couldn’t get stuff through Parliament.

In terms of the people, I’m not sure, just if you follow other posts I wrote, I’m sick and tired of there being such a finger pointing **** show, and the constant sniping on here and other places.

And yes, you misunderstand, i was suggesting people try to come together, maybe by working with local MPs as a starter, about what they want from both sides, and having political parties that work for the benefit of their constituents.

You come across like you think I am in the Leave party, btw.

It would appear, judging by the silence, to be: Stop asking an awkward pertinent question.
Our response has been to support charities that mitigate against the worst effects of Brexit. Provide more help to those in the village and beyond whose lives have been affected by the lack of social services..

Btw - I wasn’t actually sure who Vin was originally talking to, and people do have to work also, which gets in the way of posting. I know its a pain in the ass to have to work, but us Righties have the welfare bill to pay for you know
