Good to see a Migration Policy Expert saying that the crisis with the huge number of refugees not being processed is a deliberate attempt by the government to create a crisis for political gain.
Also worth noting how the Newsnight “journalist” opens with a statement and tries to lead the direction of the discussion by adding the comment “isn’t it”.
Fortunately Zoe Gardner was too savvy to let the journalist get away with it.

Worth watching for those who may think the current government's immigration policy is in any way valid or leading to a solution.

If people on here were unaware of the History Debunked channel before, then thanks to you they will now. I'm sure that Simon Webb will appreciate the extra publicity you've provided and possibly some extra cash.
Sitting here in my rabbit hole, X2, I've had time to reflect on the benefits of this wonderful politics thread. Where else would you get unsolicited advise about the perils of social media, explanations of how algorithms are designed to suck in the unsuspecting and even the weight of an AR-15 assault rifle (6.5lbs fully equipped if anyone is interested, no thought not). Pompous people are quite often oblivious to their condition and actually believe that anyone gives a **** what they think.

Sex offenders and those charged with sexual offences can apply, MSPs having voted down amendments to exclude them. The implications of self-ID as the sole requirement for access to single-sex spaces and facilities are serious when it comes to safeguarding women and children from predatory and abusive behaviour by men who can simply declare themselves to be women.

I am not sure I understand what you are replying to? There is a conversation going on about whether people who do not have conventional genders are likely to become extremists who kill people. I haven’t seen anyone saying being ‘critical’ of some gender ideas is fascist though. Lots of us agree that sport isn’t the right place for this ideological battle to play out, but calling out people who refer to trans as ‘these people’ and seem to make them out as a danger to the modern world is quite something else.

I've not been part of that conversation but have posted a video that points to the trans activist's aggression.

My post refers to a dispute about so called trans rights and has been going on for some time. It started because I said that although I'm not a Conservative voter, I couldn't vote for Labour either when they don't know what a woman is. My stance is that a person (usually a man) cannot change their sex. To be honest, I can't believe that anyone would think otherwise and that the subject is disputed. My argument is that "trans women" will put biological women and girls at risk (physically, to exposing themselves or intimidation) in places like public changing rooms, toilets, prisons and any other area that up until now are regarded as women only. Women's sport is another but separate area of concern.
I don't agree that trans women deserve to live as they want if it involves access to areas where they aren't welcome.

This has been met with comments comparing these opinions to far right extremists.

I am not in the least surprised that those who identify as trans are becoming increasingly violent. Trans ideology is on the slide and when shouty voices are no longer being listened to, violence ensues. There is no greater threat to the whole trans cult than the truth and thankfully, more and more people are beginning to hear and understand the ramifications of this dangerous, crazy movement.

Grassroots Women's groups have been voicing concerns and campaigning to maintain single sex spaces and are growing in numbers. While it was thought that having men participate in women's sport would be the first domino to fall, it was of all people, Nicola Sturgeon with her Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill and her reluctance to call the obviously male Adam Graham aka Isla Bryant a man that brought the trans cult to the mainstream media's attention. The intention of the Scottish legal system to lock up a rapist in the female estate led to prisons, and the safety of women, to become a pivotal moment of realisation for so many ordinary men and women. I have no doubt that this also played a huge part in Sturgeon's downfall and the dwindling SNP membership.

So now that Lord Coe has joined World Rugby in declaring biology trumps identity in the world of Women's Athletics, I am certain it is only a matter of time before other sporting bodies will follow his lead and put an end to the cheating mediocre sportsmen who identify as trans grifting for their pension plan.

Today's publication of 'Asleep at the Wheel' An examination of Gender and Safeguarding in Schools will be welcomed by parents who place trust in schools to keep their children safe from harm. As Miriam Cates said,

For years, parents who have raised safeguarding concerns to both schools and the Department for Education have been ignored, disbelieved or labelled as ‘bigots’. This report is a vindication of their concerns and a resounding call to action for Government and school leaders. Biological sex is immutable and the sex-based protections that are the hallmark of all civilised societies must apply to children in our schools

We only have to look at the violence perpetrated at 'Let Women Speak' events both here, and when held in Australia and New Zealand over the past couple of weeks, to see that those who identify as trans are obviously not the 'most vulnerable' in our society as is so often touted.

So I guess this is why he announced his presidential run so absurdly early (even by US standards). So that he and his Republican allies (McCarthy has already played ball) can claim this is election interference when it is nothing of the sort

“Weaponise the justice system” is a Republican talking point. The word you are looking for is “utilise” the justice system

Do you know what else sets a horrific precedent? Not charging people with crimes so that they think they can get away with them. And then they get bolder. An example might be, just spitballing here, not holding someone accountable for inciting a violent protest and then the same person trying to incite another protest when they think they are about to get arrested.

But i agree with you - I also hope it is water tight. Mainly to try and limit the chances of people buying into talking points like you just raised. There will be many who believe your point regardless though

Thing is - I don’t think the Democrats would ideally want trump taken out of contention this way. It is probably better for them if there is a bruising Republican primary and then trump is the nominee. His base is not enough for him to win and several election cycles have shown that. And he doesn’t appear to be doing anything to win over moderates / independents. Nor did his record in office do this either. Doesn’t mean he can’t win. But he is a much more known quantity than in 2015

He’s a crook mate. You don’t need any specialised knowledge to recognise the obvious. Trump belongs in gaol, and for all the many shortcomings of that country’s government, they have a legal system which is second to none in the world, when it comes to holding the rich and powerful to account for their crimes.
