This was my point, about the travesti actors in the Commedia del Arte which evolved into the modern pantomime dame. Panto is always on two levels, pure filthy innuendo for the adults but innocent fun from a child's perspective. If people want to start calling it out as being morally corrupt, not only does it ruin everyone's fun, but in itself the calling out becomes a corrupting influence because you then have to start explaining to 6 year olds what's going on.

It;s the same with Punch & Judy in Uk or Guignol in France. The story is pretty basic but the intention was to use the puppets for social commentary and social satire. I used to regularly go to the Pantomine in Winchester with my niece and nephew as this is always one ofnthe very best ones locally. There is always a slight bit of innuendo or at least fart jokes for the kids but you still find remarks about things such as Brexit tucked away in the script. More the better, I think.

I think there is a real culture of of satire within British pantomines, puppets and especially cartoons which I particularly enjoy. The best writers of satire always strike me as particularly clever and long may it continue. I hope we do not get snowflakes taking offence with this kind of humour which is very much part of our culture and, more importantly. demonstrative of the slightly radical beliefs of people in this country. I think you can sense it from the days of Hogarth and Cruickshank in rhe past and also with the likes of Matt today - easily the best political cartoonist of our generation.

Sanity at last! Thank you.

To be honest, I have never been a fan of drag, although I don’t have an issue with Panto Dames, probably because they are caricatures of women and not men trying to look like women, as genuine drag artists do.
Innuendo I am a fan of and I can say, in all innocence, that I never used to understand why my mum used to laugh during “Are you being served” whenever Mrs Slocombe mentioned her pussy.

People can **** right off with the trans panic stuff. Five people dead.
The Like was for your final comment. This hatred towards trans people is both inexplicable and appalling. I have some trans friends, who are integrated into the LGBTQ+ community and there is no anti-straight or anti-gay agenda whatsoever.

I don’t think it’s inexplicable. I think it can be explained quite simply - the vocal minority have a lot to answer for.

There is a small group of crazy alt-left wing trans lunatics out there who have been issuing death threats etc. who have been given an echo chamber and amplified by social media. Pretty much the same thing that has been happening on the alt-right and other walks of life.

Basically, the majority of LBGT people are totally sound. Small handful of lunatics spoil it for the rest.

Yes, it’s kind of the exact opposite of the Conservative Party, where the vast majority of crazy alt-right lunatics spoil things for the tiny minority who are decent people.

He just gets it on point every time. If you don’t know, the two sitting are Laurence Fox and 30p Lee Anderson.

The last sentence sums up why so many Tory MPs feel that the rules don’t apply to them. It shouldn’t matter that he repaid the loan, because he clearly has no regard for the rules, as he is already suspended for a separate reason, and should be punished - unseated IMO.

A TORY MP broke Parliament’s ethics code by fail-ing to declare a loan from a Russian businessman for a mortgage deposit.

David Warburton, 57, took £150,000 from a firm belonging to Roman Joukovski in 2017 after he and his wife tried to turn their old £1.2million Somerset home into a buy-to-let.

Parliament’s Commissioner for Standards found the MP, suspended by his party in a separate sleaze probe, broke the MPs’ code of conduct twice.

He failed to register the loan with Parliament then failed to declare it when he wrote a reference for Mr Joukovski to the Financial Conduct Authority in 2021.

He faces no punishment after he apologised and repaid the loan.
