Perhaps there is a perception in some quarters, that some of those people are angry because the truth hurts?
Those people are looking for someone to blame for feeling poorer.
I am convinced that monetary debasement is the root cause of a lot of these issues.
That feeling that a lot of people have that something is wrong with society, but they can’t quite put their finger on it… it’s rampant inflation.

Rampant inflation in general - that is relatively recent and at least partly linked to Brexit supply chain issues. That probably isn’t the majority of the cause but it is in there
Compare the average house price to as a percentage of salary 40-50 years ago. It hasn’t tracked at all. And general “inflation” is not the driver for this. At least not the currency debasement kind you are talking about

The inflation you mentioned is exactly the same thing. You can’t have inflation in one area of the economy without it being present across the whole thing. Inflation is a measurement carried out across the entire economy
Of course the get angry because their real motive has been found out. No one I have asked has been able to give a sound and logical reason why the voted leave other than they wanted their country back whatever that meant and I believe that has an element of covert racism.
The issue of stagnant wages goes back to the banking crisis in 2008, way before inflation became an issue. And the housing crisis, and chronic shortage of decent affordable homes, goes back way further than that. People don’t feel poorer, they are poorer, and the reasons are to do with ever widening wealth inequality.
Accounting for inflation I make less now than I did 18 years ago. That includes promotions as well. Oddly enough our CEO’s pay has not seen the same trend.
The Scottish government, or any government, shouldn`t be in the business of operating shipyards. The easy way out would have been to let the yard close, and lose the jobs rather than flogging a sick horse - the current government are left trying deal to deal with a die that was cast years ago. Sadly the vessels themselves are now subject to several years of corrosion, and lack of preservation of equipment, so rework will be required. Obsolescence of will be an issue, as will any changes to Class/Flag rules and standards that have happened since the keels were laid.
Its a shame because CalMac have been successfully opertatng ferries around Scotland for decades.
Reminds me of the Westminster regime who issued a multi-million contract to a company to provide ferry services that not only didn`t have any ships, but had no vessel operating experience. Now that`s a scandal, for which there seems zero accountability!

Ukraine conflict is ramping dangerously up. UK issuing an “its ok to hit Russian based supply lines” & Germany now agreeing to supply anti-aircraft tanks; almost definitely sanctioned by NATO. Being the heaviest gas /oil user makes it a little difficult for Russia to apply direct sanctions to DE but they’re going to escalate regardless.

It goes back much further than 2008. It goes back to leaving the gold standard and even before the at to the creation of central banks and their centrally controlled money. This is what causes the wealth inequality you are talking about. 2008 just amplified the problem.
it was the creation of a system that steals from the future in the form of debt and credit, instead of a society that plants trees for our children to sit in the shade of.
This is why bitcoiners say “fix the money, fix the world”
The policial issues you discussed there are in my opinion downstream of the broken monetary system. Money ultimately should convey information about prices. When money is centrally controlled, and printed Willy-nilly, those prices signals become insanely distorted and cause huge societal problems

I take instant dislike to anything the Moggster says but have to say that I joined the forces aged 15 And it was the case then that many of us kids joined up to help take some financial pressure off of our parents. It shouldn't be like this but every family we knew then (early 60s) was, despite working, relatively poorer than I think they are today. So in my experience not 18th century all. Bonko and his cronies are taking us back to those days.....and yes Mogg would love it.
