On a political note, the Tories are being accused of Southern and elitist bias, with regards to the £300 million they are putting into helping sports.
Of the £300 million, £135 million is going to rugby union (rugby league being more northern based gets £12 million) and £40 million is going to racecourses.
Major motorsport circuits get £6 million, the Lawn Tennis Association £5 million and netball gets £2 million.
Lower league football gets nothing, nada, zilch.
Of the £135 million going to RFU, £60 million is going to the Premiership, that sold a stake to a private equity firm, CVC, for more than £200 million, a couple of years ago. CVC will be benefiting from this government handout.

Sorry St Badger, I've read it and reread it a few times, but where is the fish pun in that

Yeah St Bad you made a right cods of that, it's a fishy business those allocations, no skating round it.

Sorry for the flippant fishy stuff St B. The blatantly elitist allocations need wide condemnation. I'm hoping for enough adverse reaction across sports and politics to force yet another U turn from this inept out of touch pile of richards.

Sorry about that. I will have a dab at the fish puns next time, just to stop you carping on about it. I won’t be so koi next time,
