You truly don't believe they would do anything different than deny it was faked....do you? It was set to embarrass Johnson.................It won't because it is too far fetched. Ask any true nurse and she will tell you the last place they would have placed the boy was on the floor.......................
Beddy, I don't think retraining staff produces extra beds, or indeed provides the staff that are already missing from our underfunded NHS. I've been in casualty with my daughter in the last year - and we were given a couple of blankets and a pillow to "find a spot to lie her down until we have a bed available" so I have first hand experience of this being a necessity at times. It's not a policy that staff carry out because they are not well trained enough, and it is frankly insulting to health care professionals to suggest that it is so.
Bed shortage is an issue that is caused in part by the huge cuts to care for older people meaning that older patients often can't leave hospital because the care isn't there if they were discharged, so they block a bed.
Lack of resources to GP surgeries adds to the A&E overload because people attend A&E because they can't get a GP appointment quickly enough (in the patient's view)
As for shutting a hospital department, where do you think that the patients currently being treated in that department are going to go, because as far as I'm aware there are NO hospitals with surplus capacity.
The NHS is currently being funded so that it fails, which then allows the government to say "see, look how terrible that hospital is, it can only be fixed by privatising this that and the other service"
I have always been pretty tolerant of other people's political views however I am beginning to think that anyone who supports or defends the last 10 years of austerity and the effects it has had on essential services deserve my contempt, as they obviously have no empathy for the weakest and worst off in society who tend to feel the results much more that the healthier/wealthier.
Blaming the hospital for the type of event that was reported, or blaming the staff absolutely smacks of someone who is defending the current NHS funding policy and by association, supporting how the Tories have allowed the NHS to get to crisis point. To then assume that it was a stunt because you don't believe our hospitals are not running at absolute breaking point shows blindness to reality or is a deliberate ploy to deflect blame from the Government.
I despair sometimes at just how lacking in human decency a large proportion of our Tory apologist population is, and they use not liking/trusting Corbyn as a justification for simply not giving a **** about anybody else, because they're all right and that's all that matters.

Perhaps the floor was the last place.
The truth is out there Beds. What is undeniable is the years of austerity have put services across the board in crisis and cost lives.

Read the story Beddy, that isn’t what happened and you know it. As RJ says, it happens all the time. Why would someone bother staging something when a quick wander around any A&E department will show dozens of similar things. Ever tried getting a four year old to sleep on a hospital chair? The mother laid him on a pile of coats to make him more comfortable. The disgrace is purely with the Tories for cutting NHS funding beyond bare bones to the point that structural parts are being lost from the skeleton.
For goodness sake....you want to believe it happened fine............Any member of staff that saw that or allowed it to happen should be dismissed on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ask any head of department they would have found something somewhere trust me. I'm not trying to defend any tories I'm trying to defend the staff at that hospital. You say you spent 38 years in the NHS. Are you honestly saying you believe 100% that a member of staff would have allowed that???????????????????
Sorry chilcs I told you I spoke to my niece who is head consultant of an A&E children's department. If a member of staff had put anyone let alone a child on the floor during treatment they would have been kicked straight out of the department. Shortage or no shortage. Trust me on that..........
Lets look at it another way if it did happen.........which I don't believe for one minute. Leeds will be missing a few more staff by the end of the day. Lets wait and see.........

Why not just answer the question mate?
I've no dog in this election fight so I'm not trying to score points, just genuinely interested as to what you think staff should have done if there were no beds if you think they should lose their jobs.
My girl is 16, so equally difficult too try and get her sleeping on a chair. She gets seizures occasionally, and was transported into Salisbury by ambulance, put onto a trolley in A&E and within 20 minutes we were asked to find somewhere to lie her down because the trolley was needed due to an acute case from an RTA coming in. The staff were without exception, brilliant, professional and exhausted and if there'd been a bed available, my daughter would have been on it. We got her home after 5 hours, having seen a junior doctor on the tail end of a 14 hour shift.
The under funding of the NHS is a ****ing crime, committed against every single person who needs state funded health care. There can be no defending it as the policy is a deliberate choice, not a necessity.
There are numerous other things from trollies bed mats perhaps on a cupboard even chairs or even back in an ambulance. Im telling you they would not have put the lad on the floor while he was having treatment. It just wouldn't happen............

I don't think they put him on the floor mate, I think his mother did as the option was that or chair. Now I wouldn't make that choice personally but I'm failing to see what difference that makes to the point of lack of beds and why staff should lose their jobs.
As it was their busiest week in years do you not think it's feasible that they were out of trolleys at all?
Really not sure why this is so hard to believe, it probably happens all the time.
My last word on this. You really don't accept this can happen under any circumstances so be it. RJ's post about his situation is plain enough and gives the lie to your assertions. Patient's carers have been left to make their child/spouse/family member/parent as comfertable as possible the hospital staff being to busy with oother acute cases.
The sad thing is that this thread is atypical. In the real world the Beddy's are the majority and we are the minority.

If the child was feverish then your lap could stifle him. The issue here is that the best option the lady had was the floor. That is not acceptable. That is also not staging a picture but showing the truth.

The child was having treatment the worst they would have done is ask the mother to hold him in her arms while they got an alternative while she would have been sitting. Oh I agree about the lack of beds and facilities. No doubt the Tories have a lot to answer for. So has the Labour Party. But this particular incident was not of either making although it could be argued that it needed something like this to emphasise the shortages by staging something like this.
