Actually, while I've been writing and reading, I've been listening to John Bercow in the USA. He gives a little speech and takes questions. He speaks so eloquently and with great wit, making the case for parliament that I thought others might like to listen too. This was from 2-3 days ago. Start at 38.15 :

I voted leave, mainly as a protest against our government (and vague fears about fedaralisation and big government that probably stem from my own paranoia and anti-establishment mindset) I'm really glad leave didn't win by one vote, cos it could have been mine that ****ed us all.
It didn't take me long to jump ship though, as Brexit is a ridiculous thing to do with no solid plan or possible advantages. I'm not ashamed of my vote, but I know I was bloody wrong. I just wish other leave voters could be more realistic and admit it was a bit of a bad idea to put it mildly.
I never expected leave to win, and I never expected the government to act on what was an advisory vote.

I smoke the stuff, but I was never a pusher. And to be fair I crashed 2/3 of all the Alfas I ever owned before they fell apart
Beddy, I fully respect that you have personal reasons to vote leave. I really do. I am not going to ask you to reveal them, as they are not important to me, and there is no reason for you to tell me.
All I ask is though is that can you give reasons not why YOU want us to leave, but for believing it will all be ok if we were to leave.

All that stuff was already there. The right/Brexit types have probably never been fond of the EU, although it's really about things much bigger than the EU.
These are people who have been told their views were stupid and/or out-of-date and/or racist for years. Because well... they are. They didn't change their minds. They've always felt this way, but no one listened to them. Finally, someone did.
They're being manipulated only in the sense that people like Johnson or Trump who aren't really on their side have found a way to use them. In a way, that's not such a bad thing because if someone were actually sincere about delivering these people what they want, things would be even more grim.
