I don’t normally stray on here, but I’m thoroughly pissed off that a decent man like Durroch has effectively been forced to resign for telling the truth. Boris and Trump can ****ing do one.

Trump is really playing us. Interfering with our politics, calling for Johnson as PM, in the hope of getting a No Deal Brexit, then engineering the resignation of the UK’s American Ambassador, is setting us up for the kill, when Trade Deal talks commence.

It's amazing to me (actually it's not really) that a president with the diplomatic skills and experience of a golden retriever has the arrogance to criticise a professional diplomat whose job it is to assess situations and report. As you say Chilco, the thought police are gathering, but they're not even hiding

That’s really not fair on Golden Retrievers mate. My mother in law’s Retriever bitch had twice the charm and brains that Trump’s got.

But isn`t part of the job of being a diplomat is being, err, diplomatic ? He`s another in a long line of Tory Hooray Henry`s that are dragging the UK deeper into the mire. The UK is a laughing stock thanks to that shower of tossers - and they can`t come up with credible, dignified candidate for leader. Beam me up !

Agreed. At a time of such uncertainty we have people making the situation so much worse. Whether you like Trump or not, you don't start pissing people off at a time where friends are becoming scarce. I find it hard to believe the situation we find ourselves in now, and the mugs in charge make it worse as each day passes. I'm fast becoming a Turkey who wants Christmas, just to see these privileged snobs suffer. The next riot, they are set to burn.

Being diplomatic in public <peacedove> <hug> and telling your masters the truth in private that is :emoticon-0181-fubar
He has to tell it like it is via SECURE communications. Someone in a position of trust with security clearance has leaked this :bandit:

The rest I agree with :D

Sorry, I'm having a bit of an emotigasm <whistle>

Edit.
And just to make the UK even more anxious, Trump cancelled the meeting with Liam Fox, at which they were to discuss post Brexit trade. Mmmm hook, line and sinker?

So you would rather have the UK Ambassador to the USA not telling the truth as he sees it to the UK Government? That’s just ridiculous. This has all blown up because a secret communication was leaked to a Brexit-supporting journalist who published it in a Brexit-supporting newspaper, in order to embarrass a diplomat whose private views are against Brexit. There is absolutely no way Durroch was to blame here.

Have to say that if this country could kick itself further and harder up the arse, I'd be amazed. First of all, Trump was always going to back the UK into a corner. If he's still around come the time we're negotiating trade deals, you can bet he'll make sure we get raped for it, and because he'll have us over a barrel, we'll have to grin and bear it. While the EU will tell him to go screw himself to a cake-stand - because they'll have the negotiating power to do it. Personally, I don't want a special relationship with that kind of USA.
On top of this news comes the comment from the Committee for Climate Change which says the present government are 'like Dad's Army'. And who was it who made that observation, likening them to the hapless characters in the 1970s wartime comedy/? None other than total environmental convert and former Thatcher minister, John Gummer, the Chair of the committee. I never thought much of him as a minister and although he has become a half decent environmental leader of committees, it says a lot of the present incumbents that such a stinging rebuke should come from someone on the same political side, from 35 odd years ago.

The present government is rather proud of its carbon zero by 2050 declaration. But the truth is they need to get it as close to 2030 as they can, and I suspect technology will help it become reality. The government just needs to properly point the direction, stand clear, shut up, write the cheques and take the credit when it's all over. If it does that we may do it 15 years ahead of schedule.

The things is Chilcs, you are so against Brexit you'd take anything they are willing to throw our way. Me, I'd rather see things get a bit choppy, on both sides of the channel. We've made a friggin mess of it, but I'll be damned if I'm go to get lubed up and shafted while the others laugh, no way. The people in suits seem to be worried, good I say, lets start with them lot, lets see them squirm.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re on about HR. As that cartoon implies, and as I have been pointing out for years now, Brexit has always been about the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive, and all the other stuff is largely made up by those who want to drag us out of the EU for their own benefit, and not the good of this country. You may have also noticed that I am far from uncritical of the EU, but I will to my last breath maintain that reforming it from within is the only way forward.

Brexit has always been about the Anti-Tax Avoidance

Well, lets stop moaning about outcomes then, because we really are screwed if you believe that.
This was posted by Badger a couple of pages back, but you obviously need a reminder. The ERG, UKIP, and now the Brexit Party, are all about one thing, which is getting their fat cat backers out from under EU scrutiny before the ATAD begins to bite. They literally don’t care a fig for any of the disastrous outcomes of Brexit, such as 10% tariffs on food, delays in pharmaceutical deliveries, the breakup of the UK, etc., etc., as long as they don’t have to pay more tax. It really is as simple as that.
